lol--sometimes I dream in German, and I can understand it perfectly. in reality, I've forgotten most of the German I've learned over the years.

I studied German for 4 years in high school, and 3 semesters in college. The only time I have ever HAD to speak German was when I traveled there about 10 years ago. I've forgotten a LOT. I find it easier to read than speak.
