First fleece

I'd ordered a NZ Romney fleece at the end of January and it finally came. (Actually the post office had it since almost 2 weeks ago but the pink notice postcards got lost somewhere and I didn't find out until Thursday. I'd be more upset but they bring me so many things on time that I'm just glad that it didn't get sent back.) The description said it was a silver grey; parts of it is but it seems that it goes from silver in the front to darker grey in the back. I wonder if that's a common color transition pattern? Anyway, here's a closeup of the darker grey:
and of the silver:
I just spent the whole morning scouring it. I started out doing a couple of small batches in the sink but decided it was going to take too long since I have a good 3.2kgs of it! So that was about a quarter of it done in the washing machine. I used up all my dish detergent ;-) Now that I have all the necessary tools, I can't wait to start spinning it!
This is some of the already dry, and very soft(!) fleece opened up with a flicker:
and the combs. The combs are great but I don't think I'll need them for the Romney. They are pretty scary-looking, now I know what I'll be reaching for if I happen to get a robber in here ;-)
