MY LIFE.... MY PHILOSOPHY.... MY WORLD!!!!

White Avenue Lingerie Fashion Show

October 29 2009. As Bes puts it, she once told Ged that she misses us, her friends, and that she wanted to be with us. Ged suddenly became a knight in shining armor to rescue his damsel in distress and offered to treat Bes (Reian) and friends out. We were supposed to be with Anggie (Angela), but she had an urgent appointment, so it was just the three of us for the night. After having dinner in Jollibee along Tomas Morato, we ended up in White Avenue. It turned out to be a blessing for me because I met up with one of my students, Bryan Chua, after 12 years of losing communication (lost my phone that is why). Turns out also that White Avenue was having a Halloween Lingerie Fashion Show, which Bes was ready for considering her dressed looked a lot like a lingerie… Hehehehehe. It was fun with all the bootie shaking contest (although Angela could have won hands down had she been there), body shots, and the lingerie fashion show, but basically it was the girls who enjoyed more since it turned out there are more guys to be seen in their night wear than the women, and more revealing at that too. This is the first time that I took a lot of videos. With all the fog effects in the venue for the fashion show, it was hard to get shots or pics. The video was the best option. I enjoyed the party though, after being woozie due to that Baccardi that Bryan had me to drink… Hehehehehe….

JM’s Mini Birthday Celebration At Home

Again, this should have been posted last November 24 or earlier, I was just too damn busy with so many things that this has to take a back seat. Anyhow, since JM was celebrating his birthday at school, we decided to have a little for the family also. It was not that much as there was just 5-6 of us in the house anyways. Mama bought a spaghetti and chicken meal at Jollibee for everyone, got a Red Ribbon cake for JM (it was JM’s request), and Maco cooked up pancit for long life. It was plain and simple as we would often want things done that way, yet everyone enjoyed.

Do check my photo album on this one here.

JM's Birthday Celebration At St. Theresa's

Just the videos I took of the kids frolicking while having their lunch, to celebrate my nephew's birthday.

Have We Forgotten???

aba0382l Former President Estrada finally confirmed his plans of running for President for the coming 2010 Elections. He now asks the people to give him another chance, and promises that this will be the greatest performance of his life. There are those that say that it is unconstitutional for him to do so. Some say however, that it is legal for him to seek re-election. On the other hand, some say that one of the conditions of his pardon for the plunder case leveled against him is to never run for the Presidency again. He accepted it, and signed it upon accepting his pardon from President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. I am no expert with Constitutional Provisions, neither am I an authority in interpreting the laws, rather, I will leave that to the justices of the Supreme Court. Rather, I am posting this to air my disgusts, and to tell everyone, that we should not forget what happened during President Estrada’s term. I am not hear to convince everyone, rather, I am simply here to air my view and make known to all and sundry what I think. At least if things turn out to be bad in the end, I have done my part.

First: This is the Presidency of the Philippines that we are talking about. This is the fate of the nation in the next 6 years. President Estrada was given the chance when he was elected before. If he is really serios about the job people elected him into, he should have made sure that the economy didn’t slump during his first year in power. But NO… That didn’t happen. The gains of the Ramos administration immediately went downhill went he took over. If that doesn’t give us already an indication of what he can do, I don’t know what will. By the time his second year was about to be finished, the economy was really down and out. So where is the greatest performance there? As many movie critics say, if you don’t see anything worth it, in the first 10-15 minutes of the film, don’t bother with the rest of it as it will not be worth it. Doesn’t this apply to his Presidency as well? Why bother with another 6 years when he has already given us a glimpse of what he has done when he was elected?

Second: Why is President Estrada asking for a second chance? Tsk Tsk Tsk… Only people who have accepted the fact that they have done wrong are the ones who ask for a second chance. If President Estrada believes that he has done his best during his first two years, then why is he asking for another chance? Is this an admission of some sort? I am just asking. I don’t buy his reason that his Presidency was cut short by a Vice President that plotted against him. The working class felt what he has done to the economy way back then. I am pretty sure that everyone who has work during his term felt how drasctically the economy changed, so much so that even our bosses didn’t even mind letting us go and participate in the rallies that were against him. The economy was in a slump and it was deteriorating fast. While we have the masses in numbers, it is NOT them that fuels the economy. Take away the working class and you have a crippled economy. People moved on their own because they saw what was happening, and they felt the need to oust a President who is no longer doing his job. While people have the right to speak as to who will lead them, people also have the right to remove any President they believe is not worth supporting. President Estrada says the voice of the people is the voice of God. Well, during that time, the people have spoken, and we believe he is not worth it. Again, why the second chance? In life, sometimes there are no second chances. And I hope, this time, we DON”T GIVE HIM THAT CHANCE. We have given him that chance before and HE WASTED IT.

Third: Why should we trust someone who can’t keep his word? Part of the provisions of the pardon given to him was that he should not run for President. President Estrada accepted that pardon, even announcing that he will just serve the country as citizen Estrada. So may I ask, where is principled stance? A good leader honors his word. He honors and stands by his decisions. If he wanted to run, then why did he accept the provisions of his pardon? If he is really blameless as we speak, then why accept the pardon in the first place? This is the irony that I see in these things. A principled person will fight for his innocence to the end, accepting not even an iota of pardon for something that he has not even committed. Where is that? I am merely asking.

We have given him the chance to lead us before, although I didn’t vote for him, but still accepted that he is the President when he got elected. We all knew what happened when he was the President of the country. We all felt how the economy suffered. My friends, I say, NEVER AGAIN. I HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN. And I never will. I don’t have anything against President Estrada personally for he is also a good man. However, being a professional, I don’t think he is fit to be the leader of the country. He has already shown what he can do when he got elected. Sad to say, there are NO SECOND CHANCES, SPECIALLY IF THE FATE OF THE NATION, and the Filipino People is at stake. Least we forget, we should never again entrust our country to someone who has been given the chance to lead us, and have failed miserably. NEVER AGAIN.

Goofing Off After Work

This should have been posted a long time ago, but then again, I just didn’t have the time to do it. Also, I decided to postpone the posting considering that I was still working for the company then. These were the people that I shared the fourth floor with on a lot of occasions. You see in our work, the account I work for occupies the third, 4th and 5th floors during the time that I was still connected with Convergys. I loved to stay at the 4th floor. For obvious reasons, there are not much people (it can only accommodate at the most 25 agents full staffed), specially during my tour (5AM onwards). There are occasions that I am totally left alone, that adds to the fun since no bosses. Hehehehe… Many would tell me I don’t have support at that floor, but what the hey. 3 years already into the account then, and except for customers that request for supervisors I pretty much handle their situations. Anyways, these guys and I decided to take pics considering the fact that I was already resigning way back then. It was just the just shoot em kind of pic taking. Hehehehehe… We had our fun, specially with Jhoram goofing off or doing some monkey stuff most of the time.

Allergies and Pier 1

Despite the allergies that I was having due to eating some crabs, shrimps and other related species, thanks to my nephew who wanted so much of it while he was sick, Bes Kat wanted me to accompany her in the supposed gimmick by her friend Anggie. Anggie, according to Bes, has this gnack of getting drunk and then splitting the joint for another bar with friends unintentionally. Anggie is known to have friends in the vast majority of the bars here in Manila. I really didn’t believe that till I accompanied Bes to Pier 1. I really didn’t want to go considering the only thing I wanted to do was to sleep, sleep… And sleep some more. You see when I eat crabs, shrimps and its relatives, I experience difficulty in breathing. I am allergic to the stuff. Before working for a call center, I used to get rashes when I accidentally eat some. Rashes would come out all over my body, with my back looking like a scratching post for a cat. Strange though because after a year of working in a call center, my allergic reaction mutated. I have difficulty breathing when I accidentally eat crabs and shrimps, specially the kind that my mother fancied so much while she was conceiving me. Now it so happened that my nephew is sick and just so he would eat, my Mom bought him whatever he requested. And poor me because my nephew was craving for crabs and shrimps. Good job!!! I usually take antihistamis to relieve me but I don’t like the idea of dosing off as that is the usual effect of anti allergy meds on me. Instead, I try to counter it by taking as much caffein as I can ingest without palpitating or taking a lot of energy drinks. Sometimes it works, sometimes it gets worse. Don’t blame me, I didn’t want to spend the day asleep as the case when I take antihistamins. Sad to say but last week I ended up sleeping most of the day, and the night due to my allergies. Until Bes literally dragged me out of the house just to accompany her at Pier 1 in Timog.

We started off by buying some stuff in SM North EDSA for the continuation of her son Kaizen’s birthday. A video of the blowing of the candle of which I had taken and still make me laugh due to what Kaizen and Kara did during the celebration. After which, we made hayday for Pier 1. Incidentally I met Bes’ family for the first time in an event like this. I really enjoyed my meeting them. At Pier 1, I met Anggie. Anggie already had a few bottles of San Mig Light when we got there. It was my first time to meet Anggie and after we became comfy with each other, the dancing began. Sorry but I didn’t have any pics of it. I don’t usually allow other people to use my digicam. Hehehehe…. From the usual dancing Anggie picked up its phase and became more sensual. Not really that tipsy to do some crazy stuff, I noticed some guys were already looking at the way Anggie and I danced. Two things: 1) Either I let my usual self take over and just simply allow Anggie to look crazy OR 2) Forget the people and dance like hell… I opted for #2. Momo and his friend later joined us. Momo happens to be one of the Moderators at the Forum of Bayan that I also moderate. Did they get the shock of their life with what Anggie and I were doing. On some occasions I had to leave Pier 1 and rest. I got exhausted easily and I became flushing red. Still, I can’t let a pretty girl just have fun by herself with all that dancing. I actually liked Anggie. Too bad, she is already committed to someone else. Darn!!! I had fun despite the allergies… We ended the night with a morning cap at Starbucks Tomas Morato. It was a nice evening… Thanks to Bes… And her treat. Hehehehehe….

One March Morning In SM Fairview

,

I am a very observant person on some occasions. And one time in March, while still working for a call center, I decided to take a snapshot at what happens when a mall opens in the morning, after all I got there when the mall was about to open its doors to everyone for the day. It was also a chance for me to have breakfast before going home. Sometimes I love to eat breakfast along the way home so that upon reaching home, I can just jump into my bed and doze off.
The pics were all taken last March. I should have posted it before but I had so many things going. It is only now that I am able to more or less have a little predictability in terms of my daily routine. One thing that I noticed, well, there is not much people at the malls when it is opening. Perhaps it is because it was a weekday when I took the shots. The parking space also is not so crowded. Wish this was always the case throughout the day, specially during Christmas. Even the Food Court was not really buzzing with so much noise. It was NOT the usual scence that I get to see in a Mall on a daily basis whenever I pass by. It was nice for a change, though not good for business if such situations of the morning opening in a mall becomes the norm. Best of all I also enjoyed having my breakfast, not at McDonald’s or Jollibee, but at Goto King at the Food Court. I love soupy dishes, and they offer some Pinoy dishes with a lot of soup in it. This is also the joint where I get to enjoy one street food that I love eating: Goto. Either I go for the Special Batchoy or on occasions, Goto, with its variants. A favorite that I love to eat together with the Special Batchoy or the Goto is Tokwa’t Baboy. The sauce is not that too vinegar-sour. I enjoyed my peace and quiet that morning in SM. One of the few things I now miss for going home early in the morning. Although, I don’t intend to go back to working at night.

A Matter Of Process

Storm Clouds Again Since September, we have had 3 typhoons coming within barely a week from each other. The TV is filled with the aftermath devastation that our countrymen had to experience. People had been pointing fingers left and right, and the government finally grew a brain realizes that it needs Urban Planning and Environmental Protection. In so short of a time, the country that used to be so complacent with storms being a year in year out event, finally came to its senses and started preparing anew. I can’t blame everyone. If such things were a yearly occasion, one gets used to it and complacency sets in. We are just but human and sometimes a steady vigilance can also be tiresome, if not burn you out. I have heard almost every possible theory why the tragedies happened. From the environment not being taken cared of, to global warming (I do feel the heat), even to a government realizing that it doesn’t even have a process for a very important procedure such as releasing water from a dam when it has one of the biggest dams in the world and in SouthEast Asia.

A matter of process. It is indeed a matter of process. Nature has always taught us that it doesn’t wreak havoc Another Set of Stormy Clouds by sheer whim. Rather, tragedies brought by nature happens through a process that follows the very laws of nature. I am actually exasperated about all the talks about the environment lately, storms, and how hard headed can some people get. Until now, we don’t have a process for disaster management, environmental protection, rehabiliation after a tragedy, even urban planning is simply out of the window. No wonder building just sprouted in Manila and other urban areas in the provinces. Urdaneta City where I grew up is slowly growing, but I don’t see any plans at all as to how the buildings will be set up, which zones are for commercial areas… And the lack of it clearly shows our government doesn’t have a process for these things. They can claim the do have a Pollution Againprogram. Sure. A program can easily be created, incorporated, name it. Still, what is the overall picture? Where does it fit in the process? And we all know that the lack of a process also means the lack of a system. Funny because the entirety of Luzon had to be almost flooded even before our Senate would even probe whether there is a process for the release of water from our dams when we are always visited by storms yearly, and flooding due to this has been experienced in the past. A storm happens as a natural result of a process: the water cycle. And we respond with programs that just address the moment. Sometimes, I can’t help but think that perhaps it is not the result of the storms that is the tragedy, but US as a people. Or should I even say that some of our leaders are the tragedies of humanity in themselves.

Storm Clouds 3 A storm brews again, threatening to deliver it package of onslaught on us. It happened because of water cycle, of an environmental process, a phenomenan. I hope people don’t forget that prior to Ondoy, the government was not ready, and so do many of local officials. I hope people will look beyond the programs given but rather demand at the bigger picture, know the process how these supposed elected leaders who are always more than willing to offer their services to help the country during elections come up with a process to get us out of such problems, how these people come up with systems that will help everyone cope with such problems. I also pray we do not forget that somehow, we have people in place who are more worse than tragedies, and avoid them come election time. I hope everyone started thinking more systematically.

It is nice to be back. After getting sick with a lot of allergies.

We Are All Under One Big Sky. But Why the Dichotomy?

,

We are always told that we are all equal, rich or poor, pretty or ugly, dumb or smart no one is greater than the other. The recent flooding and onslaught of Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana) has just proven it. While growing up, I have always been aware of the diffCloudserences between most people. Perhaps it is because the dichotomy of those who have, and those who have nots, and those in between them, were too vivid or pronounced, especially in the province where I grew up, that it made such an impression on me. This became even more stark when I went to university and started living full time here  in Manila. I will not claim to be rich, but I cannot considered to be poor either. Perhaps now, I belong to those that we call to be in between the rich and the poor. Often times, the moneyed would have very big houses, quaint villages, and their homes filled with state-of-art gadgetry. There was even a time that on visiting a friend living in one of the quaint villages in Makati, I accidentally knocked a vase and poor me, I was told that the vase is more expensive than my dear life. Good grief!!! Good thing the vase didn’t break when it fell, else I might not even be here. Kidding aside, I was always given the impression that they the finest things in life were the most expensive. Branded ones were always thought of to be the best. Bottomline, people always made me think that those with money are a different class.
I finished my studies at the University of the Philippines, and left for the academe. Here, the dichotomy is even more pronounced as I see my students coming from all walks of life. Perhaps nobody is at fault. Some of them always think they are better off than those who cannot afford. I can’t blame them. Perhaps that is the way they were raised. I myself, also didn’t understand why some could discriminate against those who have less in life. I was always taught to respect people, despite and in spite of our material differences. But I guess the world is not that. Being in Manila for the first few years of my college life was new to me. It gave me the chance to wander and go about. I learned that the differences among villages. Those for the well off are often expected to be better, several notches above the usual, and thus those living in it, usually place themselves so much above the rest. I can’t blame em. They probably think they deserve all the accolades they could get because of their hard earned riches. All I knew, we are all under one big sky and breathe the same air, unless they have oxygen filled rooms inside their homes to make sure they live long by breathing clean air. When Typhoon Ondoy struck, and people were flooded, not only did my heart sank, like everyone else, but for the first time, I have seen people become level with one another. Whether the slums or the rich, they all looked alike, and suffered the same. Having gone thru almost all the classes in life thru what happened in my family in the past, I can only surmise at what each of them felt, having to start all over again. The flood brought to everyone the reality that we are all one, we are all living under the same big sky. And that we are all equal.. Or so I thought….
The most dismal of all this though, it seems the moneyed villages were prioritized in the rescue efforts. Even the media had so much of the well to dos suffering. Often, I would hear this village or that village and no one has gone there yet to rescue them, people are getting mad and some even saying their disgust. Some of the more famous residents getting all the attention by being featured and their story given so much attention, drowning out those in the slums that were also affected. The less fortunate ones were also covered by the media but it didn’t create so much noise, not like their rich counterparts. Funny though because many reports would always start off with the well to do, then go to the more depressed people. Even at the onslaught of Ondoy, where we are all made to see that we are all equal, there is still the dichotomy amidst our society. Perhaps, my notion that we are all under one big sky is just a notion. Sometimes, I cannot help but wonder, perhaps if the rich and famous were not hit, the onslaught of Typhoon Ondoy will not be creating so much noise. Alone, by its sheer number of people affected would have brought the attention needed to aide those who are helpless. But I doubt if it would enjoy so much the coverage it had if the rich and famous were not involved. Too bad! Even in calamities, we still have a disparity. Whatever happened to the one big sky? Just a notion, perhaps… Nothing more…

Tattle Tits

2009-08-07-blame_toon_andGrantCardoneJ ust a few of my observations that I would like to share, and I am pretty sure many would know the things that I will be referring to. We have been hit by Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana) and Pepeng (Parma), with another one in its tail by the name of Melor, which we all are praying doesn’t even bother to come anywhere close to land, and still I find a few things here and there that either would amuse many or simply bring out the headaches on everyone. So before the pic begins pointing at everyone, here what I have found to be commonplace lately:
1) Politicians are already in the news. Still, I wonder why they have to bombard us with their infomercials. Forgive me if I am wrong, but is it campaign time already? Are we supposed to have elections by December? Speaking of infomercials… Those things cost millions. I wonder how many relief goods can a 30 sec infomercial on a top rated TV station amount to… There would have been more people happier compared to the dozens seeing their faces on Tv for the nth time around.
2) And so Typhoon Ondoy left us some of us with a big headache. Since it is recovery time, we all have to face the reality that we should start all over. Too bad, some politicos just went a little further. They indeed helped our fellow men face the problems of Typhoon Ondoy. So serious, they had to place their faces on mineral water bottles and distribute them to the victims.
3) Giving names to storms became a convention just to help us identify tropical depressions that come by the country. Well… better start getting used to relief good having names as being a convention. Why? Some politicos would want to be remembered like the storm. So… they had their names on the goods being distributed… Hmmm… I wonder if they will also have a standard set of names for the relief goods they will be giving out as each calamity comes along…
4) A high profile personality said Marikina never experienced such a flooding for the past 25 years… Well… We never experienced being dumped 410mm of rain in 9 hours for the past 40 years. I forgot. Marikina is not a catch basin. The experts were wrong after 25 years. Well… This high profiled personality is now running after some people he believes were the cause of the unusual flooding. I guess it is people who now causes storms to create unsual flooding.
5) Do the quality of commodities go up after a storm? I must be lucky then. I just saw some markets near my place sell onions for almost 50-75 pesoses for ¼ kilo. Great!!! We are having better crops when storms come in.
6) I must have mistaken the price freeze when in a state of calamity. I thought prices will not go up. I guess I am wrong. Some tinderos and tinderas took to it to mean that giving consideration and good will to the affected is in a freeze. So huminatarian causes are in a freeze, thus, the lowering of prices is frozen. Warm up the market by giving higher prices. It is the only way to go.
7) In times of disaster, we must help others. So if their houses were abandoned, we must also help ourselves, by taking their stuff. Rather than let it go to waste by the flood waters, better that someone uses it while it is still in good shape. Nice…. We are doing them a favor. At least their investment didn’t go to waste as somebody else used it.
8) Flood waters carried garbage and mud. People say this was very unusual. Ok… Cutting trees and turning mountains into bald areas is USUAL. I guess science is wrong again about soil erosion. Mud fell from the sky with the water, along with the garbage.
9) Laguna de Bay is rising. Some blame it on the high tide, and many other reasons. So now I am asking, what the heck is siltation? I guess it is now a phantasm-ic word for sediment deposit at the bottom of the lake. Again, science is so wrong. Plants do not prevent soil erosion. Why? The mountains are bare and Laguna de Bay growing its own sediments… I guess science should investigate the bottom of the lake why it grew mud/sediments.
10) Land and waterways are not affected by time. They don’t change. They just remain the same all throughout. The experts were wrong again. Main reason why we now have houses in waterways, and structures were built near the river banks. Some high profiled people were right then, it was Ondoy who brought all these problems. The structures, the waterways and the land were perfect all this time. Nothing changed. It was only the arrival of Typhoon Ondoy that was different….
11) Calamity struck. Time to bring out that trusty pointing finger. Blame who we can blame and run after people we think are the causes of our problems. And better complain to the max about your situation so that all the world should know. Every discomfort, make a big deal out of it. Blame everyone you think is responsible. Point them out. After all, only one finger is pointing at your suspect. The rest of the 4 fingers pointing at you means you are right every time. Now why didn’t I think of that. Hmmmm….
Just my observations…. Ciao!!!!
