I really suck at this blogging malarkey! It's been ages since my last post..
Reason being: I have been a social butterfly again Let me explain further..
When Tor and I split up I decided to deal with the breakup in a healthy way by separating myself from my usual habits of going out. See usually I'm mega destructive when I'm upset. I drink, party, drink, party- all in major excess. This obviously really helps at the time because it masks the problem but that never lasts long and when it comes time to deal with what's really getting me down I'm usually fucking exhausted and so worn out that it takes months to get over that it properly. So instead this time I dealt with it by going to gym everyday, snowboarding everyday, talking to my close friends and avoiding any situation that would remind me of Tor. It worked an absolute charm!
All the exercise I was getting was pumping serotonin, endorphins and all those other natural happy chemicals round my body in abundance and plus I was starting to shape up and lose weight. I was feeling looking great! I had surrounded myself with good friends too who listened to me day after day going on about the same shit! I truly am grateful to them for putting up with me whining for as long as they did. Matt Cox, Vikki Morton, Laura Nockolds and Ricky Ackerman especially! Without these four lending an ear, offering advice and cracking jokes I would still be depressed and locked in my dark little head! Rick said to me "People break up everyday. Fuck. You have to get over it and just move on. Just get a sweet hook up!" haha. And that's exactly what I did..
Since March the 1st its been a mad and beautiful series of events. Some of which I will post about, others will remain my little secrets. I am seriously feeling so fantastic at the moment. I'm so excited for this new chapter of my life. Bring on that summer sunshine and more random adventures with some wondrous folk.
It started out with me going to buy some earbuds from Asda on my way to work. After I found the earbuds I used the self service check out, scanned them in, paid and walked out WITHOUT taking them! FAIL! I didn't even realise untill the next day!
Then when I got home from work I chilled out and had a shower and put some clothing in the washing machine. Half an hour into the cycle I remembered my iPhone, my beautiful iPhone was in my work hoodie pocket which was gently spinning round the washing machine. EPIC FAIL!
I don't have insurance on it either. BIGGER FAIL!
My solution was to put it into a bag of rice in the airing cupboard. Rice absorbs moisture and heat causes evaporation (I listened in biology.)
And it worked! My phone is back up and running (thank God!) I'm pretty happy about it.
The only thing wrong with it is I get a pop up every now and then say "This accessory is not supported by the iPhone. Would you like to switch it to aeroplane mode to avoid auido interferance?" And when I plug my earphones in to listen to music it doesn't play the first time but this is solved by pulling the plug out and just putting it straight back in.
Yes I win.
I also plan on taking out insurance on it incase I fail in life like this silly day
I'm pretty sure I have the best job in the world. It's an indoor ski slope right here in Manchester. I have always wanted to try snowboarding from when I was a kid but being from South Africa it's not really the weather for snow sports. I have been working at Chill FactorE since just before Christmas so have been boarding for abt 2 months. I get to board everyday at work and have started freestyle recently. Here are some pictures Matt took when I was at Freestyle last week.
I was shown a pretty cool website last night called Stumbleupon by my friend Kadie last night. The principle of the website is to allow users to discover and rate video, photos and webpages. This was the first video that I "stumbled upon" and it's awesome so I had to share.
Die Antwoord have released a banging new track called "Jou ma se poes in 'n fish paste jar." Translated into English it means "your mothers pussy in a fishpaste jar." For a limited time you can download the track for free from their website I advise getting your dirty little fingers on it now while its fresh and hott!
Die Antwoord are a South African rap crew with next level beats, mad rap skills and such steez. My love for these guys started whilst I was listening to Max Normal in school. I was instantly hooked on how he was rapping about things like washing powder, talking to loudly in the cinema, jungle oats and bribing cops after getting busted for smoking weed in the park.
Max Normal then moved onto become Max Normal.TV with Yo-Landi Vi$$er and Dj Hi-Tek. The sound had developed and grown from Max Normals days with more aggressive lyrics, more punhcy beats and lots of rapping in Afrikaans. During this period fans could purchase "Chommie Toys" which are limited edition dolls hand made by Ninja and Yo-Landi. I have two myself: Rave Dassie and Giaraffe. They are awesome!
A couple months later there was another evolution from Max Normal.Tv to Die Antwoord. Die Antwoord have just recently been signed to a record label in The Netherlands. The new website is absolutly incredilbe and it seems I'm not the only one to think so because I read an article in the New York Times (YES! The New York Times!!) this morning about how the server for their website crashed due to the enormous 3 million hits they have had in the last 4 days.
I am so stoked for these guys. They truely are my favorite band not just because they make amazing music but because they completely submerge themselves in the whole process with the video editing, filming, custom clothing and the artwork they create. They truely live for it. I am so excited for this next chapter for them and more selfishly I cant wait to watch them on their European tour!
