Hard Life

About my hardware and hard work of being me

Not too plane

, ,

Most aeroplane safety videos are pretty plain and boring. Not this one. wink

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-Mq9HAE62Y

I saw this for the first time last year on board a flight to Auckland. I liked the way this video was full of tongue in cheek Kiwi humour, as well as succeeding in getting the safety message across.

I've got another trip coming up leaving very early Monday flying to Auckland. I wonder if I get to see this video again. smile

There's a "Friends only" sticky post at blog top. Please take a look. smile

After it was all over, I was like, "I can't believe I watched this, and I'm not even flying anywhere." left bigsmile

Okay, I have to ask about the outfits. The skin tight leotards with "clothes" painted on them, that was just for the commercial, right? TO go along with the jingle "I got you under my skin..." They don't really wear them to work, do they? confused

Good eh? lol

Shame but yes. bigsmile

This video was a part of "Our fares have nothing to hide" campaign Air New Zealand launched last year against the new cut-price competitors, which also featured TV adverts with similar "costume design" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elD38pJX7iE ).

It is very cute the way they speak.

I can't believe how unacquainted I am with this accent. I had been speaking to MM about this earlier, and she sent me to a streaming radio station where I could sample the accent. I thought the guy on the radio sounded almost British. However the last few videos MM has been sharing are quite different. The people are speaking much more casually, and the accent is much more pronounced. (The one were kids are talking about a weekend DIY project was almost unintelligible to me). Nonetheless, it's a very fun accent. bigsmile

Kids don't talk clearly in any language, IMO. But the blooper video is the one that most shows you how the people around here talk to each other naturally. The townies, especially Wellingtonians, talk very fast, too. Sort of lilting and very cute. smile

I better go and get things ready for tomorrow. TTFN bye

Thanks,Deb.I arrived safely, but didn't get to see this video.

Good one isn't it, Gary. The new safety video featured our national rugby team, the All Blacks, also had a good dose of humour. But not as good as this one, I'm afraid.

I can't believe I watched another safety film, and I'm still not going anywhere. lol

Very glad to hear that you arrived safely. How are your folks doing?

lol You should be used to listening to the Kiwi accent by now, Deb. All you need to do is just to book a flight to NZ and come & see the real thing bigsmile

I'm doing OK. You can read a little more about it in my comments in other post. wink

I haven't been out of the country in ages. However I did get my passport renewed this summer, so theoretically I could travel some place. But in the near term, I know it's not really possible for me to go on a big vaction. awww In addition, when I've priced flights in the past, the ones to any point in North America or Europe seem very doable, but the prices for flights to South America, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand kind of make me react like this: yikes

Hmmm. I saw Europe return ticket deals were advertised for about NZ$2300, which would be under US$2000. Maybe you could have an European holiday first, then fly on to NZ?
