My OperaDeforestation Has to Stop

The worst thing that human beings could do to this planet is deforestation. We do need wood but we should take just enough of it and make sure that there are still enough trees left all round us.
Even a child at primary school could tell you that trees provide us with oxygen. Since time begins, trees have provided us with basic material for construction works that range from houses and bridges to furniture and ships.
Mother Nature has gifted us with a being called the tree. Apart from its practical value, how many of us know what a tree really is ? It is alive, just like you and I. The D N A constitution of the tree is, surprisingly, up to nearly 50% similar to that of a human being. Some trees could live up to several thousand years, like those found in California, the United States. Where there are trees, there are animals, humans and spirits, because trees provide food and readily made lodgings for animals, building material for humans and natural habitats for the innumerable spirits that roam this mysterious planet of ours.
Without trees, vast stretches of rich farmlands are easily transformed into wasteland. Trees are the basis of life and survival on this planet Yet tragically few people are aware of that. Therefore deforestation goes on unhindered, leaving the future generations of humans with the prospect of a grim, treeless environment that is no less frightening and destructive than a nuclear holocaust.
Attached is a picture showing the trees in South America's vast Amazon jungle
basin. They produce so much oxygen that they are rightfully called 'the Lungs of Earth' --yet deforestation is feverishly going on there, thereby threatening to wipe even this forest out of the map in the short time span of just a few generations.
