Time to relax and live in the moment, a mind exercise.

, , , ...

  • Purpose
  • To relax the body
  • Eases anxiety
  • Reduces tention

Sit in a comfortable position, or lay down.
Loosen tight clothing.
Focus on your breathing......breath deeply in and out. Breathing is one of the most powerful conscious influences you have on your nervous system.
Let your mind wander to a place that you love, either in you mind ( a made up place) or some place you remember fondly.

The only thing that matters is that it is a place in which you are completely comfortable and safe....You feel comfortable and safe. Appreciate this scene with all of your senses. Hear the sounds -- smell the aromas, feel the air as it caresses your skin -- experience the ground securely under you -- touch and feel the whole environment that you are in.

Notice what you are wearing

Notice what you have on your feet

What time of year it is, what time of day

How old you are

Whether you are alone or with another person or people

Notice the colors that surround you

What is the temperature? Is it warm? Is it cold?

Notice the qualities of the place that make it safe and comfortable.

When you are ready, slowly deepen your breathing and feel yourself returning to the chair. You could feel relaxed and at ease.

Love,
Sarah

get smarter.

, ,

Great section in the Evening Standard(newspaper) today. It is an article promoting a new television show on the BBC about exercising the brain. It says that by following seven days of routine changes, you can make yourself smarter. It goes on to give ideas of different things you can do, on a daily basis, to boost your intelligence. Here are the basics:

- Break two habits, such as your usual route to work.
- Do some kind of physical activity for 30 minutes, even if it is just a walk.
- Get as much sleep as you know you need - you should be able to wake up on time without an alarm.
- Take two relaxation breaks of ten minutes each.
- Complete one hour of brain exercise spread throughout the day.
- Have a conversation with someone you would not normally talk to.
- Think of three things you did well today.
- Incorporate healthy eating habits into your lifestyle.
