Life And Other Things

just tryin' to get by

PLEASE RESPECT MY BLOG SPACE

I believe in God and in Jesus Christ.
And although I wish everyone did I respect that many don’t and I don’t try to shove my beliefs down their throats.
So I don’t understand people who do that, try to force their beliefs on other people in inappropriate ways.
I’m not saying I don’t talk about my beliefs I’m saying that I pick my times, places and people.
If friends are coming to me with their problems I always suggest they pray on it, if they are receptive we talk more but if they aren’t I leave it alone.
When strangers are having an obvious problem I tell them I’ll pray for them, giving them an opportunity to pursue any conversation either about their problems or about God…or not.
Being a Christian is a choice I’ve made it saddens me God did give us that choice and some choose to not turn to Him.
But that’s the way it is, God knows that, He created us with the free will to choose Him or not.
I have to respect that because I want people to respect me, if I don’t live that premise then I can’t expect it in return.
That’s straight out of the Bible, “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” so I don’t have any choice but to respect others.
Most of the time.
I’m not perfect any more than any other human is, I have my bad moments, I have my lessons still to learn but I try to live by that rule Jesus gave us as often as I can and I get better at it as I get older.
So I was dismayed when someone posted a comment to one of my blogs that was basically something they should have posted on their own blog and I deleted it with an respectful explanation as to why I did so.
I’m not downing their beliefs or their right to have them, I’m not saying that what they posted wasn’t worthy of consideration. I’m just saying that it didn’t belong in my blog space, it was not really a comment on what I’d written nor was it relevant to the subject matter of that blog.
It was a total reflection of their beliefs, asking for others to pay attention to what they were saying.
I did, I read it and looked at all the pictures and I thought about it.
But it wasn’t mine. It was the poster’s.
This is MY blog. I’m not selfish, I’m not uninterested in other points of view and I’m not against discussion and civilized debate.
I just don’t want people using my blog space to post propaganda expressing beliefs they are activists for unless the content is relevant to or a continuation of what I’ve written.
