LOL you betcha!! Although I rarely drink anything stronger than soda...ok, the occasional vodka & cranberry...but only 1 and early. I'm always driving...
Hope you're doing ok.
One of my cats died Monday, my Stanley, I'm mourning.
How lucky I've been to have such wonderful pets.

Captivevet 27. August 2009, 19:04

The tragic part of pets is that they die. I think that is why I don't have any dogs any more.

minette061554 28. August 2009, 12:25

Yeah, that's the part that is hard to take but I wouldn't trade having them anyway. I had Stanley for about 13 years. So I miss him a lot. He was at the vet's for 2 weeks, I brought him home on day 10 for an overnight and then took him back. That was a good night

I don't think that I can do that anymore, but never say "never".:cat:

minette061554 29. August 2009, 01:08

No, that's for sure something we should never say or we are usually proved wrong LOL. But for me, I never had kids so I've always had animals. And I love cats in particular but would have dogs if they weren't so needy. I can leave my cats for a day or two with plenty of dry food, water and clean litter. A dog you need to attend to several times a day. So I don't have a dog although my roommate does out in his camper. I do take care of her when I'm home and he's at work. When I'm not home and he's at work I worry about her. But if I let her out before I leave for the day which is usually some hours after he leaves then she is good until he gets home.

Captivevet 29. August 2009, 01:25

That can't be good for the dog.

minette061554 29. August 2009, 05:04

She is left with food, water, tv going and toys. But I agree. When I'm home I hook her outside. And I play with her. If it's raining or too cold I let her out every few hours. She won't come out if she doesn't have to go LOL. But she's lonely. On his days off, if the weather is nice and he's hanging at home he hooks her out all day instead of spending time with her. She is not abused, many are. There are so many pets much worse off than she is but I still wish he spent more time with her. When he gets home from work he throws the ball for her for a while and then they watch tv together LOL.

Captivevet 29. August 2009, 08:15

As long as they are in the same area together... Dogs do get lonely. My dogs never did get lonely. They had each other to play with and the cats to beat up on.

minette061554 29. August 2009, 15:57

LOL, in my house were Cookie to come in it would be my cat Jessie beating her up LOL. I told him he should get another dog for the company. He doesn't want another dog after she is gone. He loves her but he doesn't want to be bothered.
My Jessie is crazy, he's territorial bigtime and will attack any animal that comes into his space. That's why I moved him inside, he was a stray for years. But once he got an abcess that cost me almost 400.00 I moved him inside. He adjusted well, no more injuries to nurse him through. Once a guy I dated brought his HUGE dog over and Jessie tried to attack him, I caught him mid-leap and put him in a closed room. Wouldn't mind but Jessie is a little shrimp for all his bravery!

I once lived with four dogs and 20 or so cats. There were also two "Indian" ponies and a number of hens and a rooster.

Sounds ok to me...
Nuthin wrong with animals, I often like them much better than people. p:

Captivevet 30. August 2009, 02:18

It was ok for six years, but things can and do change.

minette061554 30. August 2009, 02:20

the only thing that remains the same is that everything changes. I'm getting to that age where sometimes I hate change LOL. most of the time I'm ok with it though.
