Jeju-do with Patty

, , , ...

My mother arrived. I took the bullet train up to Seoul to meet her (ca. 3 hours) and we proceeded to "dive righ in" to Seoul. Yesterday, Sunday, we finished a whirlwind sightseeing tour there. We had a great time among the greater and less great palaces, the interesting and challenging food choices (no squid - no cry), the masses in the Subway and screaming/chanting protesters at the Central Train Station. I'll post pics once we settle again (could be a week or more - you've thus been duly notified).

For now however, I mean to quickly introduce our current location - JEJU-DO, an island on the south of South Korea, with some stock pictures I grabbed off the Internet. CAREFUL: viewing the pics below is probably related to that nefarious copyright infringement stuff you might have heard about - if you object to seeing pictures that I neither took nor obtained the right to show - please close this page immediately!.

Anyway, we got here in the early evening, grabbed some mediocre din that my cheapskate sense unfailingly lead me to and Patty went to sleep early as her stomach was troubling her. Tomorrow, troubled tummies allowing, we look forward to cruising this famous vacation isle (at least in Korea)with picknick fixings and a bottle of wine ever close at hand.

Here are the borrowed pics until I can get ours up...M

Nestled under the South flank of the Korean peninsula, Jeju is large enough to take 4-6 hours of
of a car ride to travel it's circumfrance.

Our guidebooks say that this place has the only waterfall that gushes into the ocean - in all of Asia! And Patty wants to see and so we will....

Famous and unique ancient Icon of Jeju, the Dolhareuban.
