Speed Dial configuration in Opera 10 beta 1

Speed Dial has been an very popular feature after it was introduced in Opera 9.2, so popular in fact that pretty much every other browser out there has copied it in one way or another.
When a feature is so popular as it is, we have been cautious in doing anything that might disrupt how the feature works, how easy it is to use and the visual look of it.

However, 2 wishes has been frequent since Speed Dial was created. One is the ability to have more than 9 sites in the Speed Dial, the other is ways to improve the visual look of it using a user supplied background picture.

Your wishes have been heard, and I'm happy to present the new configuration dialog for Speed Dial, available from the bottom right corner of Speed Dial:

As you can see from the screen shot, you can now set a background image, set that it should be centered, stretched or tiled.

You can also see the layout of the Speed Dial from 4 ranging up to 25 sites visible in Speed Dial.

Hope you enjoy the new features in Opera 10 beta 1, and don't hesitate to offer constructive feedback or suggestions on how to improve this aspect of it!

One simple feature I would like to see is the ability to set a color as background. I would like to see for example black as my background color instead of the default white.

The only question I have is whether Opera Link supports more than 9 tiles, as well. That'd be sweet indeed.

I just reactivated Opera Link after a long hiatus... but it does work, yes (even in 9.6). Great

We _should_ support synchronization of more than 9 speed dials.

Opera Link doesn't save more than 9 speeddials. I'm at my work now and I only see 9 of the speeddials I chose at home.

BTW Maybe it's because I still use a non-standard layout and had to edit the speeddial.ini myself (4 x 6 on 1920x1200 monitor).

the dark color for speed dial background in opera beta 1 is nice, but the latest version (beta 2) changed to white...and it sucks... Is there any option to changes the color as background in speed dial? seriously..white color for background is zzzz

@therrymotion: Create a 1x1 png/jpg file with your desired color, then right-click into empty space on the speed dial page, select "configure...", check "enable background image" and insert the path to your picture. I think that should do it. OR pick a skin that comes with a background image.

@Grey,thanks, i did do like u said, but it'll be better if there's an option to change the color as BG, instead of having to create an image.
And...why the opera download now have to remove the download history, even some download that i pause at the moment after i restart opera...sorry for the complains... i love opera, but some changes really getting on my nerves...

In previous versions of Opera (9.64 for example) we could modify the .png files in Thumbnails to customize the speed dial images. I do not see a thumbnail directory in Opera 10 Profile as before in 9.6. How do we modify the speed dial images in version 10? Thank you.
