A potpourri of ME

Living and loving

So much has happened. Spee and Panda were back for a week. Spee's girlfriend graduated from college. Spee and Amanda are back at college. Karl had his orchestral concert -- his last one -- he received his letter for participating in the orchestra (yippee).

So now Karl has two high school letters, I wonder if he will earn three like his sibs. He says he feels letters are too easily given out to some people who he feels don't deserve them! Working two years toward something doesn't seem easy to me, along with meeting certain qualifications.

It was great having Spee and Amanda at home. They just chilled out after all their busy, busy college life and exams. We celebrated Mother's Day. They love going to Purdue @ West LaFayette and after five days they were wanting to return. How wonderful for them!

I got to drive Amanda back. It was fun. Moved some of her stuff into the apartment she is staying in for the Maymester. Then I got to see Spee's and Jen's turtles, and Jen's gram's dogs.

On the way home, I passed the wind farm. Those windmills were just moving! People had stopped their cars and were taking photos. Every time I pass these things people are out their taking photos. It seems the wind farm is much bigger now than last time I viewed it. One day I will attempt a shot, but these things are so HUGE and spaced out on the farmlands, I really don't believe a photo will show the largeness. I was thrilled that they were moving so well, all the ones I saw; usually there was only one or two slowly spinning the last times I saw the windmills. It is funny, really, how everyone just slows down and looks out the car windows at these gigantic fan blades; there should be a warning, "Beware, everyone looking out their windows at the wind farm!"

It sounds spectacular. We saw one in Toronto, I can imagine a whole farm of them must be amazing!

I don't it's possible to really judge the size of wind turbines from pictures. They are simply enormous, and I really don't understand why they have to be painted white and stick out so! There are lots of them in southern Alberta.

If they weren't painted, then they would glare on everything, ground and air. White also reflects heat away and birds can see it. These would be my reasons.

Carol and cakkle, it is so cool! I just love seeing them.

I'm not sure; traditional windmills aren't white, and birds do get caught by them sadly. You're right about the heat though. I would suspect that that is the main reason, but I don't know.

I don't specifically know, also; it may be that white paint is the least expensive, for all I know.

I am just happy they don't glare.

Henry Ford chose black paint for his model T cars because black paint dries about five percent faster than any other colour. Hence his famous quote, "any colour you like as long as it's black."

That is cool to know, qlue.

Little red school houses and red barns were red because red was the cheapest color out in the USA frontier days.
