It's Me It's Me

A potpourri of ME

More Potawatomi Zoo -- photo trip

, , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

I think this trip will take up a couple of posts! Come to the zoo with me!

These guys were monkeying around.

He and his brothers need no introduction.

Kookaburra did not know which way to look before he started singing.

Kangaroos were gathering for a mob rest period.

This duck kept going underwater, but there was nothing for him to catch!

One Wallaby is hiding!

The emu was looking for bugs.

Next I went to the Butterfly Exhibit. After being warned to watch where we walked. A group of us were let into a very humid environment where the butterflies were flittering about, landing, eating and delighting everyone.

Where is this one going?

Here!

Some wings looked as if they were cut outs, so delicate.

Some of the butterflies were very bright on only their bottoms or tops. I didn't know that was the way it was. I mistakingly thought that the colors of their wings were the same on both sides, top and bottom. So, when some of the butterflies landed, I was excited to see their color had changed from when they were flying.

They were all over.

I really like it when they were near flowers.

Went out and saw the Emu again. He makes a deep rumble that you can feel vibrating through the air. See the little kid?

They have a bunch of tortoises here. Those little tanks can move! Here are a few. More to come!

The Snow Leopard was very Blahzay! (I know I spelled that wrong )

Does this guy ever stop eating?

These lions were a hoot! They moved in unison. It was amazing. Both turned their heads in the same exact way, at the same exact time, same with paws and tails. The little kids were laughing and not believing they were real. So many parents were arguing with little ones that these were not robots. They kept looking over into the field where those hugely-horned cattle were. Twins, perhaps?

The Debrazza Monkeys were on the move!

This little fellow finally landed so I could get a shot. There were a lot of pretty little birds; but my camera ran out of batteries! Fortunately, I had my camcorder!!! So, next post will be zoo photos from the cam!

The monkeys were staring at people. I just waited my turn. They were moving about, too. Very spry for such old guys. I am glad you enjoyed it, Dudley.

Lois, thanks for coming. The butterflies were a bit difficult to capture on film. Between people following them, and kids squealing (which was part of the fun) and trying to get my camera to focus correctly where I wanted it to before the butterfly moved from the spot where I wanted to shoot it and it was hot and humid in there, too, I was glad to get to the outer vestibule where it was a bit airconditioned.

Once there, before exiting, the docents had to check everyone had no butterflies attached to them and that the vestibule had no butterfly waiting to escape.

All in all, quite an experience.

Carol, glad you had fun. Maybe you can get some shots of the zoo near you?

Do try! Just go slowly and carefully and enjoy. I will love seeing your zoo. Can you take a shot of the windmill, if it is near? Minot fascinates me...

Never been to Vegas, but hubby wants to retire there.

Might be too hot for me...

Never gambled, also; seen too many addicts and don't want to find out I am one....

Maybe I will go gamble one of these days, though, feeling adventurous.
