WOW!!!!

Amanda now says maybe she will be a college professor or an international lawyer. Dang, she may end up living in Europe since she LOVES it so much. I still hear about France, how the fruits are so out-of-this-world, and the food is so excellent and the country is so beautiful...

Karl says he might be an attorney, too -- but now he says he is still making up his mind.

Law is a tough profession for an honest person! :insane:.

My hubby is an honest lawyer, so will be my children. Actually, in every profession or even volunteerism there is opportunity to be honest or a criminal! Think about that, Aadil. I personally know of children groups that were robbed by one of the "officers". The Swim Club, Little League, Scouts all were ripped off by people in my neighborhood! A woman who volunteered every year to run a book fair was making off with a great percent of the profits -- and since she had a lot of friends, she got off scott-free! "Oh, she needed money to keep up with all the rest of us...and she did make some money for the school...let's just let someone else run the fair from now on." !!!!!

Having worked in the law profession myself, I have to say that the majority of lawyers-attorneys I worked with were honest. The dishonest ones, a lot of times, they were being dishonest with their clients being dishonest, too -- for example, injury-wise, saying they were injured more than they actually were.

One lawyer I know of made off with other people's moneys. He was a nice guy, but a gambleholic. He was disbarred and paid back everyone.

The news concentrates on the bad stuff, the vast majority of good is there, quiet and competent.

If there were no lawyers to mediate and get people through the court systems, what a mess there would be! Don't fall into the easy way of thinking just because someone started a saying about lawyers being crooks. I mean, one can never say 100% of anything is right or wrong. Only the Creator is perfect! (And some people don't even believe that!)

I didn't mean it in a bad way!.
Just that in a lawyer's job, it's hard to be both successfull and honest. By 'honest' I mean truthfull. I wasn't refering to the illegal activities that some people get up to at all..
There's a joke around here about muslims and lawyers. As in most religions, muslims aren't supposed to lie. So, according to the joke, a muslim that lies is called a lawyer. p:.

Yes, it seems Muslims and lawyers both are victims or "sayings".

I know you didn't mean it in a bad way; I felt I had to clarify, though, since, well, when my husband first became a lawyer, all of a sudden quite a few of his friends started telling "lawyer jokes" and things about dishonesty and it bothered him. He never attacked their professions jocularly. Even in fun, sometimes, people don't realize that after hearing so much, after a while a person just has to state their opinion. I don't want my children subjected to the same, and quite frankly, I don't believe their friends will do that.
