My Christmas Poem to YOU
Let me be one of the first to say
on this December 25, 2008, new day
Merry Christmas to all
from the big to the small
may joy fill your coffers
and love overbrim with kisses, too, for
you and your loved ones
while we all are remembering the Blessed Son

Christmas
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!
We Christians are now telling people who say we can't say "Merry Christmas" that we are being "persecuted". We are fighting words with words and bringing back respect to our holiday.
If others don't want to celebrate, fine, go to work! This is our maxim.
More and more cities and stores will have "Merry Christmas" along with "Happy Holidays", as not only Christmas is celebrated during this time period. What is also being celebrated is Kwanza, New Years, Ramadan, and Chanuka or Hannaka (I don't know how to spell it)and Winter Solstice. I am sure there are other holidays being celebrated at this time that I don't know about. Namely some from Native Americans and Indians from India.
Historically, this end-of-long-cold days of brief sunshine and/or celebrating the end of harvesting and the winter kull goes on all over the world.
Christians are happy around Christmas and wish others "Merry Christmas", just to share the joy. However we get those scrooges who are all like, "This is not my holiday, you should say Happy Holidays."
So, since so many holidays are going on, it is more politically correct to say Happy Holidays.
More and more Christians will not shop at stores that do not show "Merry Christmas" signs along with "Happy Holidays".
We are fed up! Give us back our Nativity!

Christmas
1) Hot Chocolate or apple cider or eggnog
hot chocolate with whipped cream or hot apple cider with a cinnamon stick or my fave, my mom's secret extra-special eggnog! So my answer should be eggnog; but I like all those drinks... I only get eggnog at one time of the year.
2) Turkey or Ham or Lamb or Seafood
Actually, I like a leg of lamb, fresh, slightly raw in the center
3) Do you get a Fake or Real Christmas tree?
fake, with the marvelous fiber-optic lights
4) Decorations on the outside of your house?
possibly, sometimes yes, sometimes, no
5) Snowball fights or sledding?
Sledding--but kids broke the sleds at Boy Scout campout; however, we don't live near any hills as the hills were either taken down or closed down. So, will stay indoors, comfy and cozy!!!!!
6) Do you enjoy going downtown for shopping?
depends on mood
7) Favorite Christmas song?
Carol of the Bells (even though I don't know the words!) Love the sound of it.
8) How do you feel about Christmas movies?
Favorite is "The Christmas Story" -- You will shoot your eye out! The part where the little boy can't move because his snow outfit is just so layered is hilarious and I remember having a hard time in winter with what my mom dressed me in, too.
Have to be in the mood to watch especially soppy Christmas films; however, I love those ones with the claymation, with the Burl Ive's snowman, and Rudolph-the-Red-Nosed Reindeer, can watch these anytime.
9) When is it too early to start listening to Christmas music?
NEVER
10) Stockings before or after presents?
Before
11) Carolers, do you or do you not watch and listen to them?
Listen to them if they sound good; if not, I am outta there... (They are usually at the Mall or at a Christmas-tree ceremony.)
12) Go to someone else’s house or they come to you?
Elsewhere for part of the time, my house for most of the time...
13) Do you read the Christmas Story?
Which one? Read "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "Christmas Express" when my children were quite small. When they got bigger, hey, Nintendo, Playstation, etc., no time for stories...Can't forget "T'was the Night Before Christmas".
Of course, if you mean THE CHRISTMAS STORY, i.e., how the Christ-child came to be. I explained the meaning of Christmas to my babies when they were old enough to understand. We always say, "Happy Birthday, Jesus!" My children would say that the best birthday was Christmas as everyone gets gifts!
14) What do you do after presents and dinner?
Watch happy family, play with gifts, watch TV, listen to Christmas music, watch new DVDs
15) What is your favorite holiday smell?
baking
16) Ice skating or walking around the mall?
