disappointment, Eliane, Elly, Lincoln
...
"I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live by the light that I have. I must stand with anybody that stands right, stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong."
- Abraham Lincoln
Well, Abe, I try to win when the object is to win. If someone else wins, I congratulate them and know I tried. I always do my best. You must have been depressed when you made the above statement.
I am bound to be true.
Hey, Lincoln, why do you say you are not bound to win or to succeed? I am. I will succeed at anything I do, it may take a little time or a lot but I WILL.
I, too, live by the light that I have.

I will stand with anybody that stands right.
If a part of someone who I love goes wrong, privately I will tell that person so. It depends on who the person is if I still stand by. I recognize that I am not always correct, so I hope my loved ones stand by me if I am wrong. In this way, eventually, everything will be right.
Lincoln, everyone thought you were wrong during your tenure as president; as a result, you were vilified by the news and many people; and now you are recognized as one of the USA's greatest presidents. President Lincoln, a lot of people stood by you -- I am somewhat disappointed with this quote.

ACT, Eliane, Elly, momable

Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to the end, requires some of the same courage which a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men to win them.

Remember that if the opportunities for great deeds should never come, the opportunities for good deeds are renewed day by day. The thing for us to long for is the goodness, not the glory.

Jane Addams said:
"Civilization is a method of living and an attitude of equal respect for all people."
"I am not one of those who believe - broadly speaking - that women are better than men. We have not wrecked railroads, nor corrupted legislatures, nor done many unholy things that men have done; but then we must remember that we have not had the chance."

If we want a free and peaceful world, if we want to make the deserts bloom and man grow to greater dignity as a human being - we can do it.

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

Who is/was Norman MacFinan? I can't find any info about him other than this famous quote.

Robert A. Heinlein:
"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea."
From Wikipedia: "Robert Anson Heinlein (July 7, 1907–May 8, 1988) was one of the most popular, influential, and controversial authors of "hard" science fiction. He set a high standard for science and engineering plausibility and helped to raise the genre's standards of literary quality. He was the first writer to break into mainstream, general magazines such as The Saturday Evening Post, in the late 1940s, with unvarnished science fiction. He was among the first authors of bestselling, novel-length science fiction in the modern, mass-market era. For many years, Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, and Arthur C. Clarke were known as the "Big Three" of science fiction."
He wrote "Stranger in a Strange Land". I read this book and enjoyed it. He also wrote "Starship Troopers"; I saw the movie and it is a favorite with my children and I. Man versus giant space bugs!!!
He and his wife were engineers and like Thomas Jefferson built many conveniences into their homes! How talented!!!!

Freud, quote about woman, Woman Quote, woman
...
"The true man wants two things: danger and play. For that reason he wants woman, as the most dangerous plaything."
Friedrich Nietzsche quotes (German classical Scholar, Philosopher and Critic of culture, 1844-1900.)
-------------
A lot of men have famous quotes pertaining to women. We all know Nietzsche, I thought he was a psychiatrist or psychologist (like Freud, who I think is a psych*, too).
