What a Great Day! One More Checked Off My Bucket List
Sunday, 8. November 2009, 02:36:16
But, have a bit of time now to tell you about my great day.
Today, the weather was splendid: 68, cool, sunny, blue skies, a bit of a breeze. Quite a change from last month and preceding weeks.
Perfect football weather (American Football)!
I can now check off another thing from my "bucket list of things a Chicagoite-Regioner should do."
So far completed throughout my life are: visit Museums of Science and Industry, History, Historical Society; go to White Sox and Cubs baseball games; go to Bears Football games; go to Bulls basketball games, go to Blackhawk hockey games; visit Shedd Oceanarium, visit Planetariums of Chicago and Merrillville; hear Chicago Symphony Orchestra; see Buckingham fountain (get wet); see plays downtown; go to concerts at Soldier Field; hang out at beaches in Illinois and Indiana; see zoos of area; see Purdue football; and now a major accomplishment done, which I never thought would happen because getting tickets are so hard.
Just got back from Notre Dame versus Navy football game!!! I sat on the 47 yard line!!!! Great seats!
As usual, we got lost going there; thank goodness I put some maps into the car!
The campus has some new buildings (which still look like churches, lol); it is so beautiful. Campus is large but everything is still together, I mean, near, so you don't have to take buses to get to your class on the other side of a city and zip around all over a far distance (like at IU and Loyola).
It was so exciting. The game was very action-filled. The atmosphere was spectacular and louder than any sports event I have ever been to. We were near the student section and they were so boisterous. The marching band was over 400 people!!! The stadium was packed!
The Navy Midshipmen came with their football team and marched into the stadium preceded by guys in kilts and their marching band and mascot and cheerleaders. For such a small section of people, they made a lot of noise! When they won the game, they sang their Academy's song; it was beautiful.
The ND had guys in kilts, too, plus their leprachan mascot. The marching band had a very patriotic halftime show. I enjoyed everything.
I really didn't care who won; however, I cheered for ND; but my hubby and son wanted Navy to win; but they couldn't cheer out loud for them since we were in the die-hard Domers' Section. Domers are nice. So, when Navy scored, very subversively, father and son touched knuckles. lol (Traitors!) lol
Great Saturday to be newly 52!
Later!
