Story of Gamera

Bwaa haa haa! It looked like an excellent dinosaur.
What happened when I brought Spee back to school. I am a grandmother now. Spee has two tortoises. They are so cute and he knows everything about taking care of them and worries about them when someone else is taking care of them when he is not there. I finally got to see them again when I took him to WL.
Well, one of his friends found some kind of turtle or tortoise and gave it to Spee's sister for Spee to take care of because Spee's friend thought Spee would like another turtle.
Spee was all "quarantine it". So, it got it's own little tank.
When we got there. The research began. Amanda-Panda, Spee's sis and my daughter, named the little beastie Gamara. He was just floating there in his tank. He looks like a dinosaur. His shell is jagged little triangles at its end. He has a long tail. He has claws. He lets me pick him up and he just sits there. He is so calm. Spee's little ones hide if anyone comes near the tank! Gamara just floats there.
Everyone thinks he is cool but Spee. Spee says he is a wild turtle, and only having him in confinement for three days won't ruin his natural turtle abilities to survive. He has pathogens. He is wild. Let's put him back into the Wabash River, near where he was found, because he is a little Snapping Turtle!
The research said that Snapping Turtles are territorial, so he may eat the other two turtles if allowed into there tank; and Amanda fed Gamera two fish! He has tasted blood! The other two tortoises just co-exist with the fish. The fish are getting bigger than the turtles and now Spee says the fish are his pets, too. Gamera is supposed to get cranky and be able to bite a log in two when older, so Spee says he wants to keep his pets for long-term and doesn't want a Snapping Turtle which may eat his future offspring and tortoises!
So, we bring Gamera to the Wabash. He waddles in. He keeps coming back to shore and then goes back into the river. So we move away, then Gamera goes on his way.
So cool! I held a Snapping Turtle. It was at least as big as my palm. He sat there so happily. He scratched Spee, though. He must like women. He was great with Amanda and her female roommates.
Amanda has photos! I'll try to post them sometime.
I also have photos from Memorial Day I want to show you soon!
Later! Blessings on All!

He still has those; Gamera was a wild turtle his friend gave him.
Snapping turtles are territorial -- meaning, if Gamera was put in the tank with the two other turtles, he would have attacked and maybe ate them! He certainly would have killed them.
Spee didn't want that!
Plus, Gamera would grow to be HUGE!!! A Snapping Turtles is a pet for a turtle expert. Spee is just a neophyte.
