"You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth... Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness; For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable." -- Kahlil Gibran

"Joy is a return to the deep harmony of body, mind and spirit that was yours at birth and can be yours again. That openness to love, that capacity for wholeness with the world around you, is still within you."
Deepak Chopra

Wholeness

Joy is often viewed as a reward for achievement. Many spend time searching for that which is joyful, or would provide a sense of completion...'when I have this or that I will be complete'. Wholeness however is a natural spiritual state, which has no dependence on the outer world. True joy comes in those moments where the soul experiences itself as worthy of dignity and love just as it is.

We spend much of our lives programmed to believe that humanity is inherently wrong, and that perfection is an ever-elusive goal we must always chase. How can we find joy if it requires our misinformed concept of "perfection" ? One can't be filled with joy when they feel
perpetually inadequate. The key to joy doesn't lie in changing external conditions; it relies on us changing the way we think. When we do this, we open up to experience ourselves as worthy, beautiful expressions of divine love.

Try to envision yourself as a loved child in a benign universe. Look at yourself as a new child,
with no expectations or preconceived notions. Open up to experience life as new. Does this experience help you to fill a void? What feelings does this bring up? Express them, and what you feel is necessary to feel complete and whole right now at this very moment.

i believe that. but how? how do we remember when we are identified, endangered or stressed? that's when we would most need to be more whole.

also the deepak chopra quote is marvelous

Remember that you have purpose and are loved. You have made an imprint and it has value. We are always whole, it is our doubt and fear that fragments us. Realize that it is o-kay to feel endangered, identified and stressed and then let it go...when I feel crippled by fear and sadness I put it on paper then I give it back to the universe-I burn it, literally, and let my trouble go up in smoke. It helps.

Another tip, learn to appreciate the little things. You've just asked a question of someone you've never met and they've answered you in a caring way. The chain of events that led to this includes the creation of sentient life. It'd make me just that little bit happier. I always say that if you can make just one person smile or think everyday then you've lead a worthwhile life. And that's what it's all about isn't it? So lower the bar a little and celebrate the little victories that everyone takes for granted. They're miraculous.
