"You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth... Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness; For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable." -- Kahlil Gibran

Belief

,

What we believe is what we create. When we repeatedly tell ourselves that we are unworthy, unable to achieve our dreams, etc. we establish this as a belief system and it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. It is difficult to break old habits & beliefs, but it is a necessary step
to achieve our fullest potential. Remember the phrase that says if you believe it you can achieve it. Never underestimate the power of your mind to shape your destiny.

List a few goals you would like to achieve . Next to each one write down what you feel the obstacles are to the attainment of that goal. Make a commitment to work on reversing the belief systems you have
established that may be keeping you from achieving your goals. Create a list of positive affirmations that reinforce your new "can do" belief system.

"He does not believe that does not live according to his belief."
Sigmund Freud

Good Morning!

I have been wrestling with this myself for the past few weeks. I have fabulopus ideas that never seem to go anywhere, so I asked myself why that is a began a search on my own to find the answer.

The result: Like most people, I am my own worse enemy.

So true and I am as well but I'm working on changing that. Years ago I was lamenting my terrible luck with romantic partners and my dear friend said honestly that it wasn't so much that they were finding me but rather that I was looking for them and that simple truth changed my entire way of life. Turns out I was sabotaging so much that I thought I wanted. Life is itself is an incredible education. We keep banging our heads up against the same old wall and never realize that the gate is only two feet to the left.

p.s. good morning to you as well or rather good evening!

You always have the most thought provoking things on your blog - bravo. This takes me down a path I ramble when I have too much time on my hands. If, as he says "What we believe is what we create." Okay, this is out there, but how far can we take this? I don't really know how to put these thoughts into words, but here goes. Does that mean if we believe something to be, then the belief itself makes it so? (yep Gary, makes no sense at all :~). These are the things I ponder, and the things that make my friends scratch their heads and wonder about me. But for example, you see a person talking to what you believe an imaginary being, if that person believes that being exist, then just by believing, to that person, that being does exist, and who is to say their reality is more real or unreal than ours. Ok, hopefully none of you know where I live, otherwise I'm sure I can expect a visit from the mental health authorities soon. Man I'll be glad when Sue gets home.

You are perfect just the way you are and I think you have a brilliant mind. Only the sane are capable of questioning their reality. I believe that our beliefs are our realities so yes I think that if one truly believes in their imaginary friends then they exist for them. And thusly those imaginary friends will affect their lives and presumably the lives of those around them. Billions of people around the world could be said to believe in imaginary beings and those beliefs have shaped the world

i like Freudian thought, but unfortunatley, he only touches the tip of the iceberg... one has to delve deeper into the human pysche... i read a lot of Freud , Jung right into what is modern pyscho-analysis and pyschology and a lot of new things have developed since about the human pysche. There are whole new problems to deal with, in being a happy person... it depends a lot on other factors, like your upbringing and your environment, how you adapt and how those around you adapt... people are losing more and more the concept of human kindness world wide... and yes, it depends on where you live and how you are treated as human being in your everyday life. I think it gets more difficult to be kind the more condensed people are... but this can be weighed with all the pros and cons in every situation...
