What is love?

What is love? Such go the lyrics of a very popular song when I was growing up. Have you every truly wondered what is love? Ever thought what it means? The Bible says that God loves us, but is that what the Bible really says? No, in fact the Bible very clearly states that God loves us so much that he gave his one and only Son to us. Now before we go any further I want you to think about it. God loves + God gave. The Bible very clearly states that because God loves us He gave his Son to us. Now hang on! The very same is true of all of us too. We love to give gifts and spend lavishly on those we love, be it our family, friends, or even that very special someone in our life. Ever heard of "Talk Is Cheap" or "Words Mean Nothing Without Action"? The reason I say this is to just drive home the point that indeed words such as "I love you" have no meaning unless they are supported by action that goes along with it. Now do not get me wrong! I am not saying that more expensive a gift, more is the love. I am not talking of the gift here, but specifically of the act of giving! A lot of us can and do give expensive gifts without really giving anything simply because we can afford the expensive gifts and it does not mean much to us. Now real giving need not always be expensive gifts or items. How about giving some of your very valuable time? How long has it been since we took a day off or even spent an evening with someone we love or at least we profess to love? This is where real giving comes into the picture i.e. giving something that costs us even if it is our time! Think about it. Giving need not always be something that costs a lot of money. It could be our time, a kind word, maybe appreciating someone, sometimes even saying a thank you and meaning it! The Bible describes love like this (you can read up more of it in I Corinthians 13th Chapter also known as The Love Chapter). If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. I would like to draw your attention to a section in this passage. Is our love patient, kind, not envious, not boastful, not proud, not rude, not self-seeking, not easily angered, keeps no records of wrongs, does not delight in evil but rejoices with truth. Does it always protect, always trust, always hope, always persevere! If so then our love will never fail, but do keep in mind that all else will fail. More on www.nela.in

I Want - How to go about getting what you want!<br/>

Hmmm. An unusual title for a blog or an article, but if you would stop to think for a moment you would realize that in these two words is wrapped every desire, emotion, want, need and everything else of man! I want! Think for a moment what do you want and what would you do to get it. Hey, I am not offering a magic wand or a cure for all that ails you, but I am penning down what I have observed and what I can attest works, works in all circumstances and works for all people.

Ever heard of "What Goes Around Comes Around" or "What You Sow, You Will Reap". Well that is exactly what I want to share with you that indeed what goes around does come around and what you sow you will reap whether it be good or bad. The Bible says "Do unto others as you would have them do to you" and I have had almost all people treat me real good from when I have begun to treat other people good! I have had some pretty amazing stuff come about in my life and some amazing blessings too, but I had to step out and do the very best that I could for God and for other people too.

Here is a story that I hope will convince you!

WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND by Author Unknown

His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer.
One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog. There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death.

The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse surroundings. An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved.

"I want to repay you," said the nobleman. "You saved my son's life."

"No, I can't accept payment for what I did," the Scottish farmer replied, waving off the offer.

At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel. "Is that your son?" the nobleman asked.

"Yes," the farmer replied proudly.

"I'll make you a deal. Let me provide him with the level of education my own son will enjoy. If the lad is anything like his father, he'll no doubt grow to be a man we both will be proud of."

And that he did.

Farmer Fleming's son attended the very best schools and in time, he graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin.

Years afterward, the same nobleman's son who was saved from the bog was stricken with pneumonia. What saved his life this time?

Penicillin.

The name of the nobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill.

His son's name? Sir Winston Churchill.

Someone once said: "What goes around comes around."
Work like you don't need the money.
Love like you've never been hurt.
Dance like nobody's watching.
Sing like nobody's listening.
Live like it's Heaven on Earth.

Christians and The Da Vinci Code!<br/>

I am writing this because I have been very much amused by the media circus we have had recently surrounding the latest Tom Hanks movie The Da Vinci Code. It was certainly very amusing to see our National Christian leaders come out and condemn the movie, try to move the government to even have it banned. There was even an attack on a local theater screening the movie with Christians professing that they would do anything like kill or be killed to stop the movie being screened. Of course the attack on the movie theater resulted in destruction of public property! This is really amusing to me whether anyone else finds it so or not. What saddens me further is that none of it is even Christ like behavior and that is exactly what we are advised to do as Paul states, Follow me as I follow Christ!

Firstly, the Bible tells us that it is not our job to convince the world and make them believe that Jesus is for real. The Bible very clearly states it is the work of the Holy Spirit and that He uses us as vessels to bring Jesus to a dying humanity.

Secondly, what kind of faith do we really have in the Son of God if it can be challenged by a Dan Brown and The Da Vinci Code/Hollywood? Certainly not much if the media circus is anything to go by.

Think for a moment how is all of this leading others to the Risen Christ. We need to be concentrating and working on leading a lost world to the Savior and that too led by the Holy Spirit for anything that is not of the Holy Spirit is not of God!

Demonstrations and such behavior will not achieve any of the biblical objectives and that is the only thing that matters!
