For example, internships at record labels - which ordinarily are found in New York or LA - are desired internships and if you are fortunate enough to get one, can be the perfect manner to network and pass your time in the center of the field. You may be tasked with everything from the average - bringing coffee, licking stamps, paperwork - to the interesting - taking talent around, sitting in on recording sessions, going to concerts and more. Your day will be wholly about work, though, as an intern, so it's best to relish it to the fullest.

A typical musical production internship day can be early mornings, late nights and often can go as much as 18 hours. The type of work you will be doing will rely on a lot of ingredients - the size of the record label, whether it's big or small.

One of the more fun prospects of the gig will be working in music video sets, where you will arrange for the video set to be manufactured, assit set changes throughout the shoot and also help with technical affairs, including wiring and boom operation.

Shoot days are strenuous, intense work for the interns are accountable for many of the grunt tasks, including acquiring food and handling special chores from talent. This could go from doing a coffee run, walking a pet or driving a lady friend to the airport. But, do not let any of this dissuade you. It is a difficult job, sometimes unappreciated job. Still, the honours are many, from valuable links and associations that could lead to a music production career, as well as free concert passess, promotional items, and CDs. And, like most other jobs one sometimes has to begin at the ground floor, which make a music career school such a worthy building block.
