Into Iowa tonight, ending up in an EconoLodge in Muscatine. Cool and relatively quiet for a Saturday night.

Way too hot and hazy today to encourage photography, but this wonderfully derelict farmhouse in the middle of a broiling Missouri field caught my eye.

As did this remarkable double rainbow over the Iowa countryside, looking almost as if sprang from those telegraph poles.

I collect paintings, images of old churches and farmhouses and derelict buildings. I really like that first photo. And rainbows are always a bonus.

Thanks for your comments, good people. :smile: Yes, I too would like to roam around that house - maybe I will someday. Derelict buildings are indeed fascinating - something about nature reclaiming what was once hers.

I always wonder about their history....who built you, who lived here, what stories do you have to tell...why were you left to be destroyed by the elements?

I have always loved to poke around and inside abandoned buildings. Abandoned school houses are spooky.

Yeah... Some question immediately rises: if somebody formally posseses this house then how huge is the tax debt? :D
