Fantastic! It looks like it's pouring rain in the mountains.

Richard 10. July 2009, 02:36

It was! I had to get under cover shortly after taking these shots.

"Hi Ruth"
Great photos. :D

Where were you?

Richard 10. July 2009, 03:53

Thanks again, folks.

I was on the shore. Ruth was wearing waterproofs, I - and my camera - was not! Fortunately, the rain was only spotty showers.

Sigh. I'm homesick.

I think the weather is improving the next few days Richard. It's usually stinking hot in the Kootenays and they often have bad forest fires. You're very lucky this year.

L2D2 10. July 2009, 03:58

YOu would have survived, Richard, but your camera might not have fared so well.:D

True indeed, Linda!

San, it's actually cold here - I'm wearing a sweatshirt and may even put the heater on in the motel room tonight. To be honest, I'm very happy with this (I much prefer cold to stinking heat), and the rain has made for some great cloud formations for my photos and better light too. Everyone here (except, perhaps, for the fruit growers) is very relieved to see the water - the forests are indeed very dry and fire risk has been very high. Regardless, we've come to love your old haunts!

I went there last summer, and it was hot but cool at night. The previous year the forest fires were really severe. The cold nights are good for the fruit, not the rain though.

I'm glad you get to come here - I can fully see why anyone would want to. The past few days have been mostly cool, except it warms up very quickly once the sun is out for any length of time. Not today though, it was very pleasant indeed. Glad the night cold is good for the fruit - there sure is a lot here!!

beautiful and very tranquil, ahh

Edward Piercy 11. July 2009, 23:24

Give me an area like that and 30 F temperatures, and I'd stay there forever.

Richard 11. July 2009, 23:43

I think I would too. It is so beautiful.
