Yes, they are very pretty indeed. They are quite common around here, but this was the first one I actually seen one close up and really noticed it. The seven orange eyes on the wing are the distinctive marking of this particular species.

You know my mom told me the other day that they sell butterfly nets over at our local grocery store. What's with that, anyway? Like, "I'll just grab a pound of hamburger, a gallon of milk, and a butterfly net." -- ????
