Very dramatic, Richard. Good thing it happened at this time of year and not in the middle of Winter!

lol Indeed it is! Still, we have major storms coming through the area this evening. I'm wondering how well the tarpaulin will hold. At least the hole is directly over the bath so any water coming in will be drained away!

I hope you fairer well. It rained a bit here and blew hard the day before but nothing like when it reaches you. At least, not until it warms up some here. Then it's likely all hell will break loose.

You gotta think "skylight", Richard.
P.S. How do you protect the framed articles from the moisture in the bathroom?

Richard Keelingmusickna Monday, April 16, 2012 2:40:15 AM

Thanks, Tom - and how you don't get anything too bad when it does warm up.

lol A skylight is certainly an idea, dW. The pictures are behind acrylic - keeps the water off.

I once lived in a small country house some 150 yards from the forest, and we never thought that would become a problem, even though we do have frequent storms in Denmark. However, one morning, after a storm, I found a huge branch lying on the floor of the loft. It had come right through the dormer window without breaking anything but the window. Funny, because there was no other sign of any disturbance, no debris in the garden or around the house, just this one branch, that had sort of flewn through the air from the forest just to smash through the window and land on the attic floor. Curious! I mean, it takes some power to transport a fairly heavy branch 150 yards through air. Nature sometimes does things that defies her own laws...

Elves, Martin.

Or perhaps trolls. They used to be around in my neck of the woods, mostly migrating trolls origining from the Norwegian Highlands, Danish habitat being regular troll land. I've seen pictures. One of those trolls could easily have tossed a good 12 lbs beech branch cross a field of 150 yards, through a poor man's loft window...
