The competition has finally come to an end.

It was ended mutually by Joen and Sagar.
They both share the winning amount and all the glory that comes with it.

Corruption in the Game

On Friday I learned that Sagar had trimmed his mustache. I was shocked to find out this horrible fact. The point of the game is to let the mustache grow for the longest. The consequence would be that mustache would start growing into your mouth, at which point you would be forced to give up, or really increase your level of stamina for the game.

This would in fact mean that Sagar cheated (and was awarded Tor's prize on false terms). But Sagar defended his case, saying the judges had approved it. I'm speechless. If the judges really did that, they would go against an earlier ruling, which banned trimming. This was discussed in the presence of former contestants Vetle and Espen, who confirmed it. And yes, ladies and gentlemen, Sagar was there too. But even worse, he confirmed it himself! Quoted from this post (of which I have a printed copy) by Sagar on November 2nd:

Trimming is not allowed. However if it is extremely necessary, due to shortness of oxygen, or fly nesting; you may trim only after a consensus by all the participants.

First of all, there was no shortness of oxygen and no fly nesting. Second, I for one was never asked for my opinion of the subject. Clearly, there is something wrong here.

Think about it. Sagar trimmed his mustache last week (compare his pictures to see the shocking truth; I have local copies if needed). Jesper shaved his off during the weekend. That leaves one person disqualified (or so it should) and one out of the competition. To spell it out: Yesterday morning, one person arrived with a still existing, unaltered mustache. That's right lads and lasses, yours truly.

Yes, dear audience. I have resigned from the honorable competition. Oddly, I've been here for 3 hours today, and nobody have even noticed. Theoretically I could just keep on pretending, but I won't. So here's the official statement; I'm out. I hung in there to live through the christmas party to see if Tor actually gave me the 500 kr for the best attempt at least, but no. Sagar won. Congratulations! The reasons for why I quit, are two. I'm sick of people asking me "Are you still in?" after over a month of growing facial hair. People come up to me to look closely at it. I can't grow much, ok?! The second reason.. Sagar is one vicious competitor, and I don't believe I could ever beat him. Joen, good luck -- you'll need it

Just so you know, the main compeition, the last man standing with a mustache, is the primary goal, which will be decided when only one guy remains. We all know who that is going to be, don't we?

I'm out!

It has been some tough weeks being part of the Opera mustache competition,
and it is with great sadness I tell you all that my mustache has now left me.
The two of us were having this big argument this morning, and I decided to chop
it off. So my congrats to the three finalists, Jesper, Joen and Sagar.
May the best man win!

I lasted longer than Brian

When Brian sent me a message yesterday saying he had shaved off his mustache, I was tempted to do the same. And unfortunately the memory of the sweet life without the mustache lured me in to shaving mine off.

I'm out!!!!

Most of you guys will probably agree with me on that my mustache really didn't look as good as Brian's and Sagar's but I did my best

And I lasted longer than Brian!!

My Official Resignation

loser, competition, moustaches, mustached ...

This is a sad day indeed. I simply couldn't hold out against the competition. I just...I don't know what to say...
I'm still hoping for a chance for Tor's 500 NOK bonus, but I must admit defeat for the main competition. I'm sorry if I've let anyone down.
