Competition is the act of striving against another force for the purpose of achieving dominance or attaining a reward or goal, or out of a biological imperative such as survival. Competition is a term widely used in several fields, including biochemistry, ecology, economics, business, politics, and sports. Competition may be between two or more forces, life forms, agents, systems, individuals, or groups, depending on the context in which the term is used.
It seems we have had a long run recently, with no contestant dropping out in a full week. I've updated the charts to reflect this uhh...lack of change?
On the one-hand, I would like to gloat in my success thus far, but am quickly silenced by my lack of confidence. Perhaps it is only a matter of time until I shall again meet the razor.

mustache, moustache, OMG is that a mustache?!, moustaches
I am not proud of this, but due to uncontrolled skin irritation caused by my newly acquired mustache I had to remove my facial pride this weekend. It was really coming along, and I was looking forward to wearing it proudly when meeting with journalists in Germany this week. I have thoroughly enjoyed the admiration my mustache generated from the girls in the office, namely the two judges, Berit and Laura, and will surely miss that. They obviously have a thing for men with neatly trimmed facial hair.
I know I have a lot to endure today as soon as my pubescent colleagues find out that the only guy (ok with the exception of Sagar) who managed to grow a mustache in a week is now out of the competition

mustache, mustaches, competition, thomas quit because he can't grow a mustache
It's a sad time when you see someone bow out of a competition due to lack of ability to perform. Judging by the photo albums, I can sympathise.
I've taken the liberty of updating the OMC charts to reflect this drastic change:

I have no votes in the poll! Look at the photo on the main page of this blog. That is me two years ago! And do I not have a full and impressively sexy mustache?
Is this because I was out of the office today preparing for the much anticipated launch of Opera Mini globally and was therefore not photographed? I suspect the conspiracy runs deep among some of the other competitors! A former officer and a future gentleman, I will not reveal who I think is manipulating the polls, but I have a pretty good idea.
And for the record - Sagar basically had a mustache on day 2. He is a man if I ever saw one.
And Brian, please see me in my office tomorrow at 0900 hours sharp.
PS. It is a little known fact that Brian used to work with political polling in Florida before he started working at Opera.

So this marks the third day of mustached growth. Although many of us have a good start, none looks terribly obvious to a passer-by. I'm happy to say that so far, there has been no report of fowl play. There has been a post in the Mustache Forum that peanuts are able to help hair growth. Although it's likely just an off-hand, nonsensical remark, I thought it better to play it safe. This lunch was less of a salad and more a bowl of peanuts with salad dressing.
If you haven't seen, there is a poll where everyone can vote for who they think will be the ultimate victor. Check it out
here.
New photos have been pictures have been posted in the Photo Album.

I bet you wish you could have a wicked mustache li, mustache, moustache
Today marks the maiden voyage for our hearty crew's respective mustaches. We have gained two more members (who have claimed to be aiming for the non-existent "worst mustache" prize). The newest members to the all-exclusive mustache club are:
Jesper and
Vetler. The competition is going to be fierce...there may be some hearts broken and blood spilled. That's simply the life we have chosen to lead - the life of the mustached.
Images will be taken to document this mysterious transition from mortals to mustached men. Day one is currently in the photo album displaying our blank canvases - cleanly shaven upper-lips.
Would you like to show your support for the Mustache Challenge? Leave a comment, spotlight an item or join up yourself. Spectators are encouraged to apply as well. Although it's doubtful that you'll attain greatness among the mustached, we will appreciate your support and think of you as we clean our facial hair.

mustache
We are now only 3 short days from the initiation of this grand venture. We are desperately needing additional participants. Whether you're a mustache fan or an interested spectator, I urge you to apply. The more members we gain, the bigger the prize.
For those already in the competition, don't forget to bring your 100 NOK to the MarCom office on Monday morning.
