GIMP is a hack,it means GIMP Is Mocking Photoshop, it is recursive name...
Haha Actually GIMP stand for "GNU Image Manipulation Program" or maybe it called "Gnome Image Manipulation Program" i am not sure.
GIMP uses GTK+ as its widget toolkit (the part of the program that builds the user interface); in fact, GTK+ was initially part of the GIMP, intended as a replacement for the commercial Motif toolkit, which GIMP originally depended upon. GIMP and GTK+ were originally designed for the X Window System.
Picked from wikipedia
I am a photoshop user, since i am using linux now and heard that GIMP was linux version of photoshop, which people intro GIMP to me like this. So I decided to give it a try. Here is my first wallpaper produced by GIMP. Although i am not used to GIMP yet, but it is not difficult to catch up. I think I will promote my friends to use it, it is free (as free speech) and free ( no need to pay).
It is gdesklets, while looking the way of make my linux looks like Mac OS i found out this.
