Last.FM - the music community

While i was wondering in irc.freenode.net #myoss channel, kaeru's message caugh my attention, from there, it leads me to www.last.fm
What is last.fm ?
It is an internet radio station, but it is not an ordinary internet radio station. It runs recomandation system, all the radio channel is based on the tag that contributed by last.fm community. You may join the community and install plug-in to your music player such as xmms, winamp etc. With that, the songs that you played will be recorded to the last.fm server, and you can tag your song, artist, album at the website. You can join groups and meets friends who share the same "sentiment" like you. Base on your favourite artist or tag you may listen to similar songs which was recommended by the last.fm community.

I was so desperate to find a way to make my streaming better, because initially it was so jerky while playing last.fm radio. First of all, i was thinking that my service provided bandwidth problem (sorry about that, i think in my heart do blame streamyx) and finally i find out that is my ADSL modem setting. I change my Handshake Protocol of ADSL from g.dmt to T1. And now it play smoothly
If you are using linux and firefox, you may want to associate your player to firefox.

In Firefox about:config made a new string called network.protocol-handler.app.lastfm
and then in the value added the path to the player (/usr/bin/lastfm-player in my case)

Today I wouldn´t want to go on without it. It´s such an intelligent thing - it´s adapting to me, not the other way around.
