Theme: Word Power

,

About the Design
This design, using the old typewriter graphic, was first used on an old blawg of mine. But that image was from iStockPhoto.com. But because iStockPhoto prohibits using its images in web templates, I had to find an alternative image. The image used in this banner graphic is from StockExchange. The font, with few exceptions (notably, the OC and menu bars) is completely monospace to keep with the "typewritery" feel. Kinda makes you feel like William S. Burroughs, doesn't it?

Joni,

General and specific comments.

The css file for Wordpower that I downloaded did not have any CR/LF's, which looks like a big mess in Notepad. Opening the file in Word showed appropriate paragraph marks, but it also showed tab stops on all the descriptor lines in each block. I removed tabs, saved as text and told Word to insert CR/LF's at end of each line which took care of those two things.

Your instructions tell users to look for their Files directory when uploading. If you have never uploaded a file, you won't see a Files directory until you *do* upload one file. Also, I was never given a choice to select the Files directory--it just happens to go there.

My specific comment is that everything looks great except that I don't get the image in the banner (h2). I've double-checked the path in the css file versus the actual location of the file and it's a match. Any ideas?

Thanks again for the work you did. It's helping me learn which elements are which.

Yes; I just tried it; the path shouldn't be http://my.opera.com/mytestbed/homes/files/{{filename}} but simply /mytestbed/homes/files/{{filename}} or whatever you would put instead of "mytestbed".

Cheers
Alexander

Thankyou for your work on this, I was looking for something a little more white for my blog...
