Expressen disses the Xperia X1

, ,

Swedish tabloid newspaper Expressen writes that the new Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is a major flop (in Swedish; bad automatic translation here). I haven’t tested one myself yet, so I can’t say if he’s right, but the article contains some wonderful quotes (my translation):

Since the phone is built upon the hopeless Windows Mobile operating system, there are certain advantages for companies running their mail and calendars via palmtops and smartphones. […] For everyone else Windows Mobile is a terrible operating system.

[…] if you want to write an SMS you need to open the keyboard. And that is completely worthless.

This panel is a small catastrophe in its own. To make a mark, Sony Ericsson ahs constructed a shell on top of Windows Mobile that allows multiple desktops […] to run in parallel. […] by pressing the right panel, you get to the selected desktop. But when you are there everything is as it used to be - the same Windows look and Microsoft logotypes.

Sounds like the author is not that happy with it. I tend to agree that the idea of having a device that cool to run on Windows Mobile doesn’t really help in making it very attractive. But I have to try one out before deciding on whether to get one…
