link, weather
Swedish Techworld magazine is running
an in-depth article on how the Norwegian weather site YR.no works (Swedish only, unfortunately, but you could
try Google Translate).
There are a couple of interesting facts presented that at least I did not know of before, like how meteorological data is available for free for anyone who wants it, and in a standardized format, circulated by the UN's WMO (World Meteorological Organization).
But even with all these data and models, the prognosis for yesterday claimed there would be no rain here in Oslo, while it in reality came pouring down. Better luck next time, I guess.

browsers
Do you know what browser you are using?Perhaps that sounds like a strange question, but it seems that
a lot of people don’t know the brand of their browser. I guess the marketing departments of the browser making companies still have some way to go…

moon
All the hype is on the moon landing at the moment, it being 40 years ago and all. For those that want to try a moon landing on their own, there is
a project over at Google Code that can simulate it. And it’s not just any simulation, the source tree contains
a transcript of the original moon lander sources. Code from 40 years ago, that’s not something you see every day.

browsers, opera
About one month after
beta 1, Opera today released
beta 2. It does not contain Opera Unite, but it does have several improvements over beta 1,
as can be seen in the detailed change log.
I have been using Opera 10 as my primary browser for quite some time now, and I find it to be very stable and reliable, and can wholeheartedly recommend it.

portable, dab, tv, gadgets
...
A colleague of mine just demoed a
portable DAB/DMB player he had bought. Not only does it play the
digital radio (DAB) channels, it also displayed
portable TV perfectly. And that’s with ear-phones for antenna, inside a building that is very good at shielding out radio stations (the only stations that play well on my office radio are the DAB ones).
Me wants!
