The Falcon's Nest

... how to soar with Opera...

How to bookmark many pages at once...

Often enough one loads a bunch of interesting pages, and then wants to bookmark several (if not all) of them. It is quite tedious to bookmark each page one by one; but Opera offers a nifty way to speed that process up.

  • Load the Windows panel.
  • Using the mouse, Ctrl+Click or Shift+Click in the Windows panel to select all the pages you want to bookmark.
  • Press Ctrl+D to bring up the 'Add bookmark' dialog.
  • This will prompt you for each page where to save the bookmark.
  • You can also fill in other information like a nickname for each page.
Alternatively, you can just launch the Manage Bookmarks page (by pressing Ctrl+Alt+B), and drag-and-drop the selected list of pages into the bookmarks folder of your choice (including root). You can always customize them later to show up in the appropriate folder, if you so wish.

If you had disabled the mail client in Opera 7.xx...Remembering the lost ones...

I have not followed exactly as you describe, but reading your note lead me to the following practice: After a period of browsing, not necessarily in the same session, and having decided that several pages visited recently are worth bookmarking, I open the sidebar history and Ctrl+Click to select those of a category, then use the Ctrl+Alt+B to manage bookmarks, reveal the appropriate destination folder, and drag the set of links into the folder. Admittedly, memory sometimes needs confirmation by revisiting a site, but I usually do that from the bookmarks after dropping in all the desired and candidate links.
