education, television, spelling
This evening I was watching Prime's alleged current affairs programme "Today Tonight", something I rarely do because it's a bit like reading "Thomas the Tank Engine."
In an article which launched from the low quality of many resumes being submitted to employers and then continued to talk about low standards in our education system, a graphic illustrating the basics of education read: "Reading Writing Arithmatic"
I couldn't believe my eyes! I even doubted my own nearly infallible spelling ability.
I won't be watching "Today Tonight" again in a hurry. Even Thomas the Tank Engine gets the spelling right.

Andrew Bolt reports:
I am so glad that Education Minister Julia Gillard is leading a charge to improve spelling standards in schools. No doubt she touched on that matter in this speech yesterday:
Opening address to the Australian Primary Principles
Alas, I can’t tell whether she actually did or not because the speech has since been removed from her website, for some reason that hasn’t been spelled out.
