Shirakawago - Gifu Prefecture

Located in a mountainous region of Gifu prefecture, Shirakawago is totally different corner of Japan without any high-rise buildings, any modern transport means but wellknown for its thatched farmhouses which have been existing for centuries. I like the quietness and the peaceful atmosphere here as it reminds me of my countryside in the old days.
(I converted all photos to B/W so as to get the old aged effects and actually the original versions are not much different 'cos I came there not the right time with really bad weather)
