Another Xpression Session this weekend but I'm going to have to give it a miss as I've got too much going on to get down But, for those guys that heading down the surf is looking good .... 4ft+ and pretty clean
Mmmmmm, what do you think? Lisa got busted for speeding the other week and has just got the Thames Police offer of either the usual 3pts and £60 fine or no points and having to take a 4hr training session in being a safer driver ..... at the cost of £79.50
Man, the last few days at work have been mental. More meetings today and then I have to jump in the car and head to Kitley House in Plymouth(ish) to get to a friends wedding. Full of a stinking cold; I'm going to be knackered by the end of the day ..... luckily the B&B isn't all that far away, so sliding into bed will be an easy challenge.
Saturday is my mums birthday and so that'll be anotehr busy day, followed by a party somewhere near Oke' ...... don't think I'm going to survive the weekend - especially as I'll not be drinking
On the up-side, the surf is pretty messy and blown-out, so I'll not be missing alot there. Although I was hoping to gp mountain biking with some of the guys and with so much going on this weekend I would be pushing it to get to the starting point in time on Sunday morning
Anyway - have a good one, what ever your're all doing out there
If you had purchased £1000 of Northern Rock shares one year ago it would now be worth £4.95, with HBOS, earlier this week your £1000 would have been worth £16.50, £1000 invested in XL Leisure would now be worth less than £5, but if you bought £1000 worth of Lager one year ago, drank it all, then took the empty cans to an aluminium re-cycling plant, you would get £214
So based on the above statistics the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and re-cycle
The 4 hours of self defence training was great. Very different from the stuff I use to do but the first session after a few years away it was very cool. The only problem now is about which martial art do I have a crack at ..... my initial thoughts were just about re-starting kick-boxing but after having a taste of Jeet Kune Do, I could be tempted to give the more complex (and painful) art a go
My fitness was a lot better than most of the guys their but I can most definately feel I've worked some long-lost muscles ..... plus in one of the grapples I had my neck pretty much cruch and twisted
I have a couple of days to think about which one to take up. Kick boxing would be the easier option but the mixed art (Jeet Kune Do) would be a great learning process..... although, Jeet Kune Do is twice the cost Plus I'll be avoiding any karate like the plague!
It's been a while since I stopped my martial arts (muay thai boxing, karate, kick-boxing and krav maga) but I think I'll see if I can get back into it by turning up to a local self defence seminar. It's going to be a mix of strikes, takedowns, disarmament, ground work and more techniques from Jeet Kune Do ..... the really quick stuff you see in a lot of the movies at the moment
Hey, I'm not going to a fraction as quick as I was when I use to train but it could be the re-start of something I use to really love ...... would just need to try and fit it in with work, the gym, running, moutain biking and surfing
Looking at the weather charts I don't think I'll be making the effort to get out of bed and hit the beach in any hurry At best (if you wait for the push of the tide) we're going to see a knee high wave hitting the beach and that really isn't worth the effort
Hopping about all over the web is starting to get annoying. Do I keep my little website going (www.nickthesurfer.com) as well as all my other little blogs, facebook, myspace and even places like wannasurf or do I start to get rid of them and stay in one place with a website or a blog...... Mmmmm, going to have to do something soon as I'm starting to feel a tad net-skitzoid
Anyway, what have I been upto ..... spent the very wet summer in and around Woolly. The rain meant that I spent far too much time (& money) at Trevs (Eyeball) drinking tea and eating cake There was some decent surf but the lack of sunshine took the shine off what is usually a brilliant summer of sunshine and surf
Now back at work and as I spent most of the summer camping-it-up (in a tent) I didn't get any of the work done I had planned to do and so I'm playing a serious game of catch-up!

Summer in Devon and Cornwall sees the arrival in large numbers of the NIMOVBY*. Despite its Russian-sounding name, the NIMOVBY is from deepest England. It leaves its usual habitat in July and August, as if compelled to be by the sea. Upon arrival it immediately searches for indigenous marine life such as seals, dolphins, basking sharks and the Great White of St Ives. Once these are spotted, the NIMOVBY feels content and ready to go back home.
The NIMOVBY traverses the realm in a spotless, shiny and air-freshened car, but wishes the salt air wouldn't be quite so corrosive. Moreover, the NIMOVBY objects to local practices such as the possession of children and dogs, both of which are a noisy, messy inconvenience. The NIMOVBY has particular disdain for centuries-old Cornish pastimes such as skateboarding and surfing. These it regards as deviations from the norm, but not in an acceptable, Mosleyan sense. Far from it, for some NIMOVBYs believe that skateboarding is a crime which should be punishable via a minimum term of 15 years' imprisonment, while others say that unless a surfer is called Maximilian Von Spume, 17, muscular and from Hawaii, he shouldn't be in the water.
If you see a NIMOVBY, the best thing to do is smile sweetly. They will be gone again soon
