Popped out to the cinema last night to watch 'Angels & Demons'

It's a pretty good film. Don't go there expecting to see a factually correct thriller, but take the drama, adventure and thrills hand-in-hand with the occasional glimpse into the Illuminati and the Catholic churshes history, and you get a cracking watch. I don't think I was bored at any point and there were enough twists to keep you involved through out
OK, the night did end a little later than planend though. We got back to the apartment at about midnight, only to find that Lisa's phone had fallen out of my pocket in the cinema ....... luckily a quick dash back in the car & a few minutes of LIsa on her hands and knees in a dark (& empty) screen #11, the lost item was found

Still, I was a tad grumpy

by the time we got back home.

Man, I so don't want to be in work today. The sun is out something brilliant

and I'm indoors producing peer assessment sheets ..... oh yay!
I think all work should be cancelled until after the weekend when a band of wet weather is set to hit

That was we can all enjoy the sunshine and then come back to work all refreshed and sun tanned in time to hide away from the rain clouds.

Faff, news
By all accounts, 'white cloud' seems to mean rain in the morning and then just over-cast & windy in the afternoon
Anyhoooo, the highlight of my day has been popping to Homebase and buying a new palm sander so I can get our balcony doors sorted ..... I've been wanting to do them for the last couple of years but keep putting it off 'til tomorrow
This is a tad worrying -

Hopping about all over the web is starting to get annoying. Do I keep my little website going (www.nickthesurfer.com) as well as all my other little blogs, facebook, myspace and even places like wannasurf or do I start to get rid of them and stay in one place with a website or a blog...... Mmmmm, going to have to do something soon as I'm starting to feel a tad net-skitzoid
Anyway, what have I been upto ..... spent the very wet summer in and around Woolly. The rain meant that I spent far too much time (& money) at Trevs (
Eyeball) drinking tea and eating cake

There was some decent surf but the lack of sunshine took the shine off what is usually a brilliant summer of sunshine and surf
Now back at work and as I spent most of the summer camping-it-up (in a tent) I didn't get any of the work done I had planned to do and so I'm playing a serious game of catch-up!

Just spotted that I am
tripple booked for next weekend

It's the 3rd expression session (surfing), the Rough Ride (mountainbiking) and it's Horse Guard in London. Accepted the invite to Horse Guard, so will have to do that on the Saturday but I'm not too sure if I'll be able to drink and stay over as I am also booked out for the Rough Ride on Sunday - race starts at 10am and it's 3hrs from home (4-5hrs from London). Whoops
The dove chicks are getting bigger ..... although one of them is definately getting more than it's fair share of food. They are both starting to look a little less ugly but oh man, are they're making a mess. Bluetits are clean little critters and actually clean-up after themselves. Collared Doves just sit in their own mess..... Yuck!

OK, I shouldn't have really run again this year as I still had a swollen ankle from my 'stepping of a wall I'd forgotten I was on' incident but I thought what the hell and gave it a crack. Oddly my swollen ankle is feeling ok but my left foot (the previously good one) is knackered! I think I have damaged the tendons ...... that'll teach me to run while injured. I guess in trying to protect the swollen ankle over the 13 miles, I hit my then good foot a little hard and now I'm suffering for it
Not very happy with my time (1hr 55m) but I can't be too unhappy when I remember that I wasn't exactly run-fit! I'm now holding off my entry to the Cardif Half Marathon until I know both of my legs/feet are 100% fit again
Other news ....... our bluetit chicks have hatched, making a lot of noise and running their parents ragged. We also have a pair of Collared Doves nesting on the other side of the balcony and they are also sitting on a couple of eggs (apparently they only ever lay two eggs).

It's the Bank Holiday weekend and so I should be happy that's I've got three days off work. Sadly however, I have the prospect of a 13.1 mile run on Sunday with a swollen (it's a lot better than it was) ankle
Might be able to get a surf in on Saturday but it's looking very small an crappy weather-wise!
Fingers crossed my ankle holds out

It should do and I'm sure I'll get the 13.1 miles done but not too sure it'll be in a time I'll be happy with

Man I'm knackered! Headed into the hills straight after work on Friday and arrived home yesterday at about 7pm. After very little sleep (think I got about 2hrs on Friday night), a day of biking and then a paintballing session, I am sore (wow, my head hurts from getting about 5 direct hits to the top of it), have a stiff neck and need another day off to receover from the fun and games (and possible too much ale).
Should be taking a pack of Yr7's to a X-county competition but with the storm hitting and a pretty high risk of trees coming down, it wouldn't quite be right to send 16 11yr olds into a forect to play chicken with nature........ hey, at least I get to go home early now

Wow, I actually managed to go to the gym (and on a Saturday night) ..... even ran there and back

Over a few miles I'm almost back upto my 8mph mark, which means I should be able to do a half marathon in a sub-2hrs time. Although by the time May comes around I would like to be closer to 1hr 45mins. We'll see how I improve in the next 3-weeks in time for the 10-miler I have as a prep-run to the Great West Run.
Anyway, enough waffling ..... off to have a shower

Excuse the orange running vest ..... in 2006 I raised over £1000 for Exeter Hospiscare and this was their team vest
