A Woolly Weekender .....

,

OK, so there wasn't any real surf to talk of as the wind was far too bloody strong but it was great to get down at last. A few beers upon arrival on the Friday night and then we had a few more on the Saturday  OK, it was too windy for the likes of me to get wet (Ste was involved in a comp and I might throw some pics up later) but the messed up swell would have been impossible for me to paddle out though.

Walks along the beach with the pup were the activity of the weekend and even then the wind was strong enough to push you over if you weren't paying enough attention :D

The VW crew were out in force and in the main carpark there was a line-up of about 20 classics .... a mix of splits, classics and rats

Just got to work out when I can next get down and if we can get to the Xmas Party weekend :drunk:

A spot of beach time .....

It's been an age since I was last at the beach. Time and the sad side of life has been getting in the way this year

Anyway, so long as I don't catch the bug that's going around college, then I sould be good-to-go on Friday for a couple of days of beach and surf fun.

Checked the conditions yesterday and it's actually looking good for a spot of wet action

It's the End of Summer Ball up on the hill but I think I'll give it a miss in favour of a more laid-back weekend. Don't want another hang-over that lasts for half a week. Felt like death for several days after the night out with Marcus the other weekend :yuck:

Looking forard to the end of the day ....... then it's a week and a day off for me - Yay!

Listening to Ellie Williams. Not my usual music taste but man-alive it's so mellow :coffee:

Where has the time one?

Bloody hell boy, what has happened to 2009? Another couple of months and it'll all be over ......... 2010 sounds very futuristic and it's just around the corner :yikes:

In other very dull news -

Don't think I properly recovered from my drinking adventure with Marcus the other weekend. Popped out to try a few differnt bars the other Saturday and a few pnts later, we started on the shots and then we finished the night in Marcus's kitchen 'tasting' a variety of whiskeys  I staggered home some time around 2am and didn't see the topside of my bed covers until later the following afternoon. I spent the rest of my waking time in pain (Self induced I know) :yuck:

Jason and Jojo are over this weekend. Drink will be on the cards but I'm hoping that it'll not be of the same level and quanitity of the Marcus weekend (it was a good crack though - cheers  Marcus).

Bring on the cheer :drunk:

All quiet ......

I'm still here but to be honest, there's just not a lot going on :frown:

Work is bloody busy and the weather is starting to turn to winter (wow, the wind is strong and for the first time, I would actually say that it's cold out there :psmurf: ).

Times are still very sad and I'm really starting to miss dad. The fact that life just carries on is one of the hardest things to get use to :wait: It was mums birthday today but I can't say that it's a happy day for her, The first birthday she will be celebrating on her own for 40yrs.

Hey ho .... life goes on. Think I'll go out for a beer or two after the gym

Take care y'all.

Bored ......

Wow, being back in the real world is oh so boring  It's not that I haven't got loads to be getting on with but I think the lack of sunshine gets you down

Usually start to struggle as the days get shorter but this time around I'm going to make an effotr to try and avoid letting it get me down. Could have easily sat infront of the TV all last night but at 8pm I managed to get my trainers on and ran to the gym for a quick session ...... felt a lot better for it :D

Trying to find a weekend that I can hit the beach and have a bit of a surf but it looks as though we have something going on each weekend for the next month or so .... might have to sneak off for a quick session when I'm down visiting mum. Also trying to work out if I should enter the Blenheim Triathlon next year. I'd be ok with the traning (probably fit enough to do it already) but I'm a little short on kit ..... triathlon wetty and racing bike

How things change .....

Went to a BBQ at Steve's new house last night (great house) and even though I enjoyed the entire evening, it was a culture shock :yikes: Apart from a couple of the guys, all but Lisa and I have kids! If they weren't running about (being followed by their relevant dad) or playing with Tilly, they were being passed from arm to arm. I personally spent about 30-mins with Amy (Steve and Kates little one) on the grass, while she sucked and slobbered all over me and my thumb.

As I said, it was a great evening (although I might have had a cider or two too many :D ) but it was a first for me ..... to have almost as many kids as adults.

How things change ........ good times

The nephews visit for a few days .....

,

Man alive, a 3yr old and 7yr old are fun but hard work ..:D .. although as Uncle, it was pretty much Go-Go for the 3-4 days they stayed over. Teaching Mark to skateboard in the rain was moist but fun (followed by a hot choc in the Broadface). Going swimming with both Mark and Joe was rewarding - especially the second time, when Joe was really getting into his swimming/splashing around. The 'special trip' to Woburn Safari Park also went down very well. A Black Bear pretty much nudged the car as it wandered pass and the monkey (actually there were two) on the roof was a real highlight

At one point I ran to the gym prior to Lisa and the boys joining me for a swim in the pool. The idea was that they walked to the sport centre after a 10-minute delay to give me some time for a workout. Apparently the boys couldn't wait and so were out of the door pretty much 60seconds after I had left and then ran/dashed after me. Even the girl at the desk commented on the short length of my gym session :irked: Again .... little guys are time consuming :ko:

I think as they get bigger, I'm going to need a bigger apartment as suddenly a two-bedroom apartment feels really small when it's shared with two noisey boys :yikes:

They're back home with their mum and dad now. Hopefully Mark will keep his skateboarding practice going and his dad will take him swimming from time-to-time

Going to have the a mellow day, with out having to worry about entertaining two little lads .... Yay!

Yay ..... it's the summer!

The last month at work has been a complete blur! To be honest I think it was pretty pointless me being there .... apart from being a body to fill a classroom :ko:

Anyway, the summer is now upon me and I am so relieved that I can just have a few laid-back days to myself. Have loads to actually do (work/DIY etc) but I'm going to take my time getting into it

Think I'm pretty much over my mini-swine-flu case. With just 4 weeks 'til we head to Santorini I need to get back into my training  Think I might even be healthy enough to hit the gym this evening .... Lisa tells me I should gibe 'body balance' a go. I usually do general running, cardio and weights, so a bit of core stretching etc would actually be a good idea but I fear it might be a tad outside of my usual comfort zone

Some quality rain hitting the ground here at the moment. One advatage to having the 2nd level apartment .... you can stand on the balcony in the dry and feel part of any weather that is happening. Thunder storms are ace!

Luckily the surf is completely blown-out at the moment back in Devon, so I'm not missing anything (apart from  ) -

Pottering on through ......

It's been ages since I last updated my actual website - www.nickthesurfer.co.uk - I use to use FrontPage to do the basics but since upgrading to Vista some time ago I've been trying to find the time to look at some different WYSIWYG web software. Anyway, I've eventually installed Webplus X2. Had it for a couple of months but can't be bothered with learning any new stuff. Well, it's installed now and I might actually start thinking about working out how to use it.

Life ...... really struggling to find the motivation to do anything :eyes: Nothing has really changed with my dad-to-day life but just not having dad on the otehr end of a phone line leaves me feeling empty. Still, the summer hols are only a few days away now and with the end of school, I'm sure things will start to feel a little more upbeat nervous

Bring on Santorini

Dad died .....

OK, it's now almost been two weeks since I was with dad when he passed but I can't say it's getting any easier. Midnight on a Friday and I'm up listening to tunes and drinking whiskey ..... can't say that was a habit prior to teh last couple of weeks awww
Man, I miss him rip
