OK, I'm a tad stupid when it comes to looknig after myself & injuries. A few years ago I walked around for 18 months with a broken arm and wrist ..... to the point that I kept re-breaking the wrist by continuing my sports and eventually had to have an operation to sort everything out

Anyway, at the beginning of last summer I went over on my ankle after taking a tumble off a small drop. At the time it bloody hurt, I couldn't walk on it and even another passing bloke offered to call me an ambulance .... I said I'd be ok

Anyway, it took the rest of the summer to get over it, my ankle is still pretty flipping weak and I'm sure a different shape to the non-f*&ked one. Pretty sure I have the same movement in both but it still doesn't feel right.
Mmmm, 12 months down the line ..... is it really worth going to see the Doc about it?

Bloody hell it's nippy out there! -8'C on the way to work this morning. Water was freezing to the screen almost instantly as I was driving along. And it's set to get colder tonight

I would love it to snow but that's highly unlikely I'm afriad
Anyway, going to re-start the training tonight and will hit the gym .... far too cold to go for a run or anything outside! Going to have to get a move on as I'll be entering the Great West Run and the Rough Ride when I get around to printing the appilaction forms off. A half marathon and 75km of offroad mountain biking race with over 7,000ft of climbing

Done them both before but last year I twisted my ankle a couple of weeks before the GWR and still ran (stupidly). It caused all sorts of problems and made it impossible for me to ride the Rough Ride the following month. This time I'm hoping to avoid stupid injuries and complete both evens in good times ...... about 1hr 45mins for the half marathon and around 7hrs for the Rough Ride

OK, I shouldn't have really run again this year as I still had a swollen ankle from my 'stepping of a wall I'd forgotten I was on' incident but I thought what the hell and gave it a crack. Oddly my swollen ankle is feeling ok but my left foot (the previously good one) is knackered! I think I have damaged the tendons ...... that'll teach me to run while injured. I guess in trying to protect the swollen ankle over the 13 miles, I hit my then good foot a little hard and now I'm suffering for it
Not very happy with my time (1hr 55m) but I can't be too unhappy when I remember that I wasn't exactly run-fit! I'm now holding off my entry to the Cardif Half Marathon until I know both of my legs/feet are 100% fit again
Other news ....... our bluetit chicks have hatched, making a lot of noise and running their parents ragged. We also have a pair of Collared Doves nesting on the other side of the balcony and they are also sitting on a couple of eggs (apparently they only ever lay two eggs).

It's the Bank Holiday weekend and so I should be happy that's I've got three days off work. Sadly however, I have the prospect of a 13.1 mile run on Sunday with a swollen (it's a lot better than it was) ankle
Might be able to get a surf in on Saturday but it's looking very small an crappy weather-wise!
Fingers crossed my ankle holds out

It should do and I'm sure I'll get the 13.1 miles done but not too sure it'll be in a time I'll be happy with

Well, I've done the first of this years runs ..... the Maidenhead Easter Ten (miles). My training so far had been a lttle suspect and the furthest I had run 'til today was about 5 miles, so I was a little worried if I'd be able to pace myself over the 10 miles. Anyway ...... I did. I would like to hit the 8-minute mile for the Great West Run but I was happy with finishing the 10 miles in just over 84 minutes

Wow, I actually managed to go to the gym (and on a Saturday night) ..... even ran there and back

Over a few miles I'm almost back upto my 8mph mark, which means I should be able to do a half marathon in a sub-2hrs time. Although by the time May comes around I would like to be closer to 1hr 45mins. We'll see how I improve in the next 3-weeks in time for the 10-miler I have as a prep-run to the Great West Run.
Anyway, enough waffling ..... off to have a shower

Excuse the orange running vest ..... in 2006 I raised over £1000 for Exeter Hospiscare and this was their team vest
