China Floods

An unusually early thaw of snow and ice has triggered floods in the Chinese Xinjiang region.

11,233 people have been trapped and are unable to move because of the floods and 458 houses have collapsed (in total 6,427 houses were damaged).

Recent temperatures that have been 12 degrees Celsius above the average of previous years have melted snow and ice much earlier than expected.

(The extremely exact figures surprise me. I am more used to figures like about 11,000 people are trapped. About 6,000 houses were damage and out of these about 500 fully collapsed).
