Japan – Earthquakes and Volcanoes

If you read my log yesterday you may wonder why so many earthquakes occur in Japan. Again this is a question of plate tectonics. Here the Pacific plate is colliding with the Eurasian plate. Because of the difference in density between oceanic crust and continental crust the Pacific plate is overridden/subducted and in the subduction zone you get earthquakes and volcanoes.
