They were spactaular. Blue and purple. I can't remember what they are called, but I keep meaning to post their name. I'll try to look them up this evening.

so what are they? looks like a cobalt clematis to me. does it grow on a vine?

Dephinium. They grow on a stem. The flowers grow all around it for a foot or 18".
