This kind of post used to be a regular feature, and I hope to get back to it with more regularity. I know I sound like a broken record, but I've been pretty danged busy lately. Tonight, though, I drank too much iced tea, too late. Although I thought I was going to fall over at 10PM, once I laid down I found that I couldn't sleep. This post, then, is the product of a caffiene driven rush to exhaust myself (and deplete the tea reserves that are fueling me).
Without further ado, today's list:
Without further ado, today's list:
- Clinical trials begin on cancer cure. All cancers. 100% cured in mice.
- This blog is fairly music centered, and the music that you'll find here is centered squarely around music to which I listen. In the interest of keeping those of you who have more well-developed tastes interested, I give you this: Musopen!, which lets you download free open source classical music. And there is a good deal of it. Knock yourselves out!
- Stride Gum is giving away a free pack. Doesn't that guy look like John McCain? They are also sponsoring Matt. Where in the hell do you suppose he is?
- Blogroll:
- Jessica Hagy is my hero. She's a genius, she's hilarious, and she posts just about every day. If you haven't seen Indexed! before, what are you waiting for?
- Here's a guy who looks for other people's undeveloped film. He develops it, and shares it with you MangoFalls. It's a sometimes bizarre and often intimate look into a moment in other people's lives.
- One Post Wonder. It's a blog about blogs that only have one post. I think someone has abandoment issues, but it sure does stand as an example of the definition of "meta."
- If you like NCY, you will enjoy Corner Shots, celebrating urban imagery from the Big Apple.
-
The Language Guy is an academic who writes in a way that you and I can understand.
IncitefulInsightful thoughts on language. That slip might have been freudian, had it been sexual. Pretty telling of where my mind is, nonetheless.
- Who says you shouldn't play with your food?
- Tag Galaxy presents Flickr images in a unique and interesting way. Just type in a word that you think might be a Flickr tag, and they show you related tags. Click on the one you want to see represented as a huge ball of photos, and start it spinning. Any photo you click on enlarges. Fun. Addictive. Way cool!
- Because you have a right to know: getmyfbifile.com. See what the government things of you!
- If you need to create a .pdf, but you don't want to spring for Adobe's licensing fee, you can convert over 300 file types to .pdf online. And it's totally free!
- Sensible Units puts everything into perspective. If you cannot picture how much something is, you can find out here. Want to figure out what 300 gigabites is? Find the equivalent in terms you can understand, simply by typing it in (430 CDs). It will give you both objects and units. Four cords of fire wood is equivalent to 91 barrels of oil and 14.5 metres
- DIY:
- If you've ever been curious about how to make plastic from milk in your own kitchen, you need wonder no longer.
- Need a beer? Brew your own!
- Piles of crap on your floor or bedside table? Make a bedpocket into which you can dump all of your shiznit!
- Want a virtual tour of Amsterdam? Your new novel takes place in Prague, but your editor won't spring for a research trip? Schmap!! can help. Reviews, descriptions, tours, pictures, you name it. And all right there on your map. Sadly, the Opera Browser is not yet supported. It's a lot of fun in IE, though. I haven't tried Firefox.
- If you carry a thumb drive with a number of programs on it, Portable Start Menu offers a handy alternative to opening Windows Explorer to find the appropriate program. It creates an icon for your task bar, with programs available to start by clicking. Sweet!
- If you miss playing with Lego, you download the virtual version for free.
- If you want to be hip with your kids and their friends, You're going to have to do better than "Mom" and "Dad", G-Dog.
- Nakedness and Naughty bits:
- Those of you who live near Ashland Oregon, and who appreciate bare bosoms should consider attending this July 4th parade. The rest of you should consider having your temperature taken. Bare breasts, for goodness' sake! For those of you who don't find bare breasts green enough, there will be hemp involved. On the other hand, if it's twig and berries that interest you, the chase is on in Canada.
- Naked sushi. I was with them, right up to the "Two women dressed in skimpy school girl outfits dance on either side..." What? And another thing: "The practice, started hundreds of years ago in Japan as part of the geisha culture, has rapidly spread around the world." Where I come from "rapidly spreading" doesn't take "hundreds or years."
- Streaking isn't the happy-go-lucky lark that it once was: a guy celebrating his birthday by streaking may find himself on the sex offender registry. Welcome to 1984.
- Boob jobs: the end of your marraige?
- For the professional Dominatrix, indoors is safer than out. Who knew?
- If you end up naked and covered in cow dung, you aren't doing it right.
- Scandal at the Ms. Exotic World Pagent in Vegas - it seems the Palms Hotel, where the pageant(?) was held doesn't have a license that permits the exposure of breasts. Yep, Ms. Exotic World was really Miss Prim and Proper World, and worthy of the attention of any self-respecting school marm.
- The Morning News has a slide show of phone sex operators. Interesting text accompanies the images. The images are safe for work, but the text isn't always (graphic, but not prurient).
I think I can sleep now.

Quinnuendo: I should know better than to chug iced tea at 8pm. I'm paying for it today. It's nice to see you here - and I am glad you found something in that you liked.
Qlue: It sure kept me busy for a bit, too!
