Second Presidential Debate - First Thoughts

,

Meh.

No one really answereed questions. That's good for Obama, who seems to be ahead. Bad for McCain, who had to shake things up.

McCain, who so wants to be the agent of change, spent a lot of time talking about his hero, Ronald Reagan.

Overall, it was pretty much a pissing match. They both have wet shoes, but neither hit the electric fence, and neither made the other flinch.

I sorta feel the same. The best part was at the end when both candidates were blocking Tom Brokaw being able to see what he was supposed to say from the monitor.

noah counte 8. October 2008, 03:23

Hahaha. And we had to wait 91 minutes for that!

If you pay attention to the network shindiggery, Obama did much better than I thought he did. Focus groups at CNN, MSNBC and FOX News all went for Obama, and it wasn't even close.

Maybe it was a different show if you were watching, rather than just listening.

PainterWoman 8. October 2008, 04:25

I was watching CNN then switching back and forth to a couple of others after the debate. Most were saying this was McCain's chance to shake things up a bit but he didn't do it.

noah counte 8. October 2008, 04:36

That was my impression.

I thought Obama scored big when McCain said of the war in Iraq (again) "Sen. Obama just doesn't get it," because he said the same thing in the first debate, and this time, Obama was hiding in the dhadows: "You know what i don't understand? I don't understand why we invaded Iraq when the terrorists who caused 9/11 were hiding in Afghanistan."

I hope McCain continues the same way on Wednesday,
if he does,
Barack wins by a great margin !

noah counte 8. October 2008, 15:54

I hate to jinx things, but the CNN map is suggesting that the margin is already great. Polls! You can't trust 'em, but theyare fascinating!

ellinidata 8. October 2008, 17:31

only a speculation can jinx,
a fact never

Nerak 8. October 2008, 19:42

I wish McCain wouldn't have said ONE word. All that whistling made me have nightmares of the 7 Dwarfs.

night or day .......

noah counte 9. October 2008, 02:03

Heh. It's a mashup video someone made of a TMBG song and images from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Nothing untoward from me - honest!

ellinidata 9. October 2008, 02:29

hmmmmmmmmmmmm,
I did put my silk nightgown before I watch it but
for some reason it has been removed very fast!
we are having no evidence here and
by knowing Karen she is not talking !

ellinidata 9. October 2008, 02:31

ripp2002 9. October 2008, 02:56

I watched 5 minutes and when neither one punched the other I decided to watch something more interesting. Bunch of pansies.

noah counte 9. October 2008, 03:22

 Hmmmmm... I think the video is still there, Angeliki. So what might you have been talking about? p:

Karen is on a road trip. Roughly four hours each direction, and a beautiful drive I have made just once in what seems like another lifetime, from Portland to the Dalles in Oregon. I expect we'll see her tomorrow.

ellinidata 9. October 2008, 04:18

I am on my way again !

noah counte 9. October 2008, 04:32

Whistling in the dark again!

ellinidata 9. October 2008, 04:37

the only person missing for that spread is Sarah Palin

I was reading earlier the WSJ (wall str journal) and on page 46" Running Alaska" she says

a. Diet :

"My family and I eat a healthy diet heavy in Alaskan seafood, moose, caribou, and fresh fruit....."

b. Fitness secret:
I have this inherent craving for the outdoors. It's a way of life here. When I go running I see a mama moose and a baby moose. It's never boring."

Homer: Doh!
of course she has moose for her meal,
she sees mama moose and baby and then she eats them!!!!

some body shout this woman , PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !

noah counte 9. October 2008, 04:44

Seeing moose when you run isn't particularly healthy. I was in a bus, once, that became the object of a moose's affection during rutting season. I thought we'd lose windows, and I'm sure we lost some pain.

ellinidata 9. October 2008, 05:24

maybe our prayers will be answered by a moose !
