In Memory of Cajunlayde

Tonight at 7 eastern time, my friend Ginny, Cajunlayde, died after a protracted illness punctuated by a stroke.

We met in a message board in 2001, and followed each other from place to place since then. Caj was my longest standing friend on the internet. She propped me up during the worst parts of my life, and I will miss her terribly. I know she's in a better place, and I wish her all the peace she didn't find while she shared time with us.

I am sorry Matt,
Very sorry ,and I mean it from the heart :frown: rip

noah counte 13. January 2009, 04:24

Thank you.

She was generous of her time, and would give you the shirt off her back. She didn't suffer fools gladly, though, and would spring to the defense of anyone who was being mistreated.

She had a lot of online friends, and she'll be missed by many.

ellinidata 13. January 2009, 04:33

I know Matt,
and I am sorry you are hurting

noah counte 13. January 2009, 04:51

I am mostly glad she's at peace. She had a very rough go over the past three years or so, and that her struggle is over must be a tremendous relief to her, and may provide some relief to those who cared for her during that time.

ripp2002 13. January 2009, 04:54

Sorry to hear that as well. Wish her family and all (you) of her friends the best of luck...

ellinidata 13. January 2009, 05:07

She is at peace now ,nobody can hurt her any longer.I am sorry she had such a hard time last year :frown:
I wish her sons long lives to remember her.

Families are never ready for a loss.

Daughter-In-Law 13. January 2009, 15:09

Thank you all for your very kind thoughts and wishes.

This is Cajunlayde's daughter-in-law, the one in Florida.

I was honored to stand by her, with her son, and hold her hand as she passed.

Though her family is deeply saddened by her loss the men that Cajunlayde raised are a tribute to her with their strength, their dignity and their resolve to ensure her wishes were met.

Her sons are men of character and value, and it is preceisely at this time her family did NOT fall apart.

In separate states and in their own ways, they grieve together.

Please continue to pay tribute to Cajunlayde knowing that her family was by her side both physically and spiritually; united in love and loss.

Thank you.

noah counte 13. January 2009, 15:12

I am glad to hear all is well in the family, and I hope peace and love will get all of you through this hard time.

PainterWoman 13. January 2009, 15:17

Peace be with you Daughter-in-Law...and all family members and friends of Cajunlayde.

CheliC 13. January 2009, 17:48

I didn't know Cajunlayde quite as long as Matthew but I knew her a long time and she was someone quite special. She was smart, witty, and had such great insight into people. I'll miss her presence and her spirit. My prayers are with her family and her friends, as she had many she could call friend. Rest in peace Ginny. I'll never forget you.

For certain is death for the born
And certain is birth for the dead;
Therefore over the inevitable
Thou shouldst not grieve.
He who lives the inner life knows that death is truly his vacation.
To him, death is anything but extinction.
It is a meaningful departure.

- Bhagavad Gita

noah counte 15. January 2009, 15:21

Right you are, Shaunak. Her departure has meaning, not just for her, but for all whom she touched while she was here.

noah counte 19. January 2009, 14:07

Thanks, Scott. She didn't take easily to blogging - she was a message board person - but she enjoyed yours a great deal.

I_ArtMan 20. January 2009, 00:54

i could feel her warmth.

CultureSurfer 20. January 2009, 13:32

CultureSurfer 20. January 2009, 18:27

I am honored to be part of an online community that cares so much about its members.

noah counte 20. January 2009, 18:47

It can be a great place, can't it?

mlynnjohnson 26. January 2009, 21:33

my gosh. I only spoke to her a couple of times. I'm sorry to hear about this--I just don't get out from under my rock that much.

noah counte 27. January 2009, 01:25

She liked you.

It's ironic that you swore off the internets, and now you're out from under your rock. That's reverse psychology, or something!

mlynnjohnson 27. January 2009, 02:38

Oh, I can't swear off anything. Probably be smoking next...

noah counte 27. January 2009, 04:15

Don't kill your taste buds - I'd hate for you to waste that single malt.

wickedlizard 30. January 2009, 16:39

awww I only just saw this! I am so sorry for your loss. :frown:

noah counte 30. January 2009, 16:42

She's in a better place. We lost a good friend, though.

wickedlizard 30. January 2009, 17:55

I had a brief chat with her awhile back... had no idea. awww She seemed like such a nice lady.

noah counte 30. January 2009, 18:04

She was that - to a lot of people.

Jillee 8. February 2009, 10:01

I am so sorry, Matt. My eyes filled up when Angeliki told me. Ginny wrote so many beautiful letters to me and there is one in particular that I would like to share when I can retrieve the contents off of my original blog.

She thought the world of you. She really cherished your friendship. You were both blessed to have had eachother in your lives.

I will never forget her. My prayers will be for all who loved her, and for the strength to live in this world without her. One life touches so many.

She will live on in our hearts...forever.

noah counte 8. February 2009, 13:09

I'm sorry I didn't write to you, Jillee. I really struggled to find all the people she has touched, and I'm sure I missed a number of them - heck, I wasn't privy to all of them. :frown:

She was a gem, and she lives on in our hearts and memories.

wickedlizard 20. February 2009, 15:49

awww
