MIA, Snow, Big Ol' Song List, and Such-like
Thursday, 29. January 2009, 02:43:03
We had 6 inches of snow on Monday night. Tuesday, we had 13 hours of sleet (which translated to about an inch, if you're keeping track). In the wee hours this morning, it changed back to snow, and we got about seven more inches of snow. There are 14 inches of snow on the doghouse, though the official total is an inch less than that. All of which means I spent a lot of time this morning with a snow shove and my MP3 player. What follows is (roughly) the playlist that accompanied me while I sweat and swore. I couldn't find all the songs, so I've omitted some, and I replaced others with something by the same artist. I am sure glad we have music - it makes the worst kinds of labor bearable.
Thanks for bearing with me while I'm speechless

Unfortunately this year, we have only max. 1 inch of snow and it turns into ice very fast. That makes no good shovel feeling...

At least you are in very good company unemployment-wise with so many losing jobs. Hope you find something soon.
We've got a ton of snow, too, but we are opposed to shoveling unless absolutely necessary.

I don't feel obligated, so much as I feel frustrated that I can't find things to say.

I'm with you on the unemployment blues. Plus, the weather really does stink around here. If my grandmother was alive, she would tell you to keep thinking of Spring. Only 46 more days!
noah counte # 4. February 2009, 02:38
Hi Cheli, I won't be surprised if we still have mounds of snow on the ground in 46 days, particularly in the parking lots of grocery stores, where it is mounded into heaps that are easily 12 feet high. There was a HUGE wreck between you and me this morning. Scary.

I know you've been going through quite a rough time for an unbelievable amount of time now. Although it feels like everything is falling apart at the seams, I have to tell you that from what I know, you've been handling it with such grace, dignity, and the best of spirits that can be expected.
If anything, I hope to Hell that you're not beating yourself up for any of the crap that's been thrown your way. You're a much more intelligent man than to believe a load of bunk like that.
Anyway, bottom line is this: You are one of the most important people in my life. I am and will always be here for you if you need me. If there is anything at any time you can think of that I can do, please say the word! Even if it's just using my dorky name as a reference or something...anything. Just say it!

Listened to all of them. Except the Maroon 5. It took me two days.
Good luck with the Snow-Fu.

Matthew - Seems as though Angeliki snuck her little birthday wishes in before I could get that card out to Tina. Oh well...figures. Please let Tina know that my thoughts are with her, I hope she's feeling well, and I hope her day will go better than she probably thinks it will.

no gloves can protect ones hands!
a security guard asked for my drivers licence
to allowed to a restricted area,
and my hands were not funtioning!
I am glad I wasn't arrested
every thing it's frozen !
Not to mention I wasted a perfectly good tea
by leaving it in the car,
I had to remove a crust of ice after
30minutes I returned to it!

I'm employed now, but I do recall the many wasted years of unemployment. I think it's the most depressing situation to erod oneself in and it's made so much worse by know-it-alls who keep telling you to "get a job". I used to shut them up by suggesting that they could employ me since it's so easy to get a job. I'll be praying for you and I hope that things turn around for you. It's not easy in your line of work these days. Stay strong and remember that we're all in God's hands and He knows better than we do what's good for us.
Let me just take this opportunity also to thank God for providing me with employment and keeping me fit and healthy to be able to continue working. Many of our friends here on My Opera are unable to work due to ill health and it is a great blessing from God to be able to work in the first place. And Mathew, I must thank you also, for reminding me how fortunate I am to have so much to be thankfull for. Your blog posts are a great pleasure and I treasure whatever time I can spend here. We live but one day at a time.

I have for which I am thankful, too. I do not have to look far to find people who have less, endure more hardship, and have every right to be bitter or upset, but they carry on with smiles on their faces. Sometimes I need to be reminded that I will not be burdened with more than I can bear.
It's always nice to see you here. Thank you for the kind words.
