Privates, Musik
Um, well... I'm currently busy with being generally angry at people because I have hay fever and itching eyes always drive me crazy. I'll be back when my head's clear enough to think again, or when there's anything worth writing about (nothing like how I hate people always logging in and out in instant messengers, that'd be boring).
I'll leave you with a low-quality video of my most favourite song right now.

Privates, Thoughts
A week or so ago I watched an old movie with Audrey Hepburn called "Roman Holiday". She was a princess disliking her life in the golden cage, Gregory Peck was the always broke journalist. She runs away, he finds her, recognizes her, wants to write the best story ever about her, spends a day fulfilling all her dreams, while his photographer friend secretly takes pictures with a camera hidden in his pocket lighter. Of course they fall in love. And naturally she has to return to her royal life, which means never being able to meet him again, but she does it anyway. Talk about having a duty. Next day she gives a press conference, he's there, says something about trusting the papers, his friend takes a picture of her with his pocket lighter, and she just stays calm. They give her the pictures the photographer took as souvenir and everybody is content.
The story (someone uses somebody for their own benefit, but they fall in love) is something you find in many films and series. I just never saw an ending like this. Normally (ha ha!) the used one gets very angry and won't talk to the bad guy any more. He or she has to do something really special/romantic for the Happy Ever After. The ending of "Roman Holiday" felt exceptionally wrong. But, thinking about it, it was just different. And it would have been a great pity if they came apart in conflict.
Still, it never came to my mind that there was another reaction to being used than getting furious. It didn't occur to me that you could just trust other people, have faith in their honesty, and everything will be alright. TV says something different. Feel hurt, make them pay, they have to earn your trust. Is that normal? Does it have to be that way?
I, for one, prefer the Audrey Hepburn reaction. I don't know if I'll react that way, in case somebody would ever do something like that to me, but I like it. The fact that I thought it was wrong and, well, boring at the beginning, made me pause and think. Who defines my normality? And why do I let them?

Dumme Menschen, Privates
"Ye think this is the whole world? That is a good thought for sheep and mortals who dinna open their eyes. Because in truth there are more worlds than stars in the sky. Understand? They are everywhere, big and small, close as your skin. They are everywhere. Some ye can see an' some ye canna, but there are doors, Tiffan. They might be a hill or a tree or a stone or a turn in the road, or they might e'en be a thought in yer heid, but they are there, all around ye. You'll have to learn to see 'em, because you walk among them and dinna know it. And some of them... is poisonous."
("The Wee Free Men" by Terry Pratchett)
