About time! wink

Krzysztofksx4system Tuesday, August 25, 2009 11:49:32 AM

the older one was MUCH better!

Vladimir Barosvbaros Tuesday, August 25, 2009 11:50:44 AM

It doesn't look the same. It is in fact completely different and professionally done this time smile

Just tell me please that you will include this icon in upcoming Opera Mini. The low res icon on my Nokia 5800 looks absolutely horrible right now.

Yoan Blancgreut Tuesday, August 25, 2009 11:53:45 AM

Nice, the flat one was nice too but OS tends to display their own shadows now, so, +1!

batisteb Tuesday, August 25, 2009 11:56:37 AM

Good job! Looks good and clear

Federicocurson Tuesday, August 25, 2009 12:00:12 PM

I'm glad you decided to stick with the "O", and I believe the new one is more polished and a lot nicer than the old version, which was... well, OLD p

Keep up the amazing work, well done!

hl2run Tuesday, August 25, 2009 12:12:21 PM

What took you so long ? smile

Zotlan Tuesday, August 25, 2009 12:17:20 PM

Looks nice, it's a shame it looks jagged around the edges when alt-tabbing (or using present windows) in opensuse

I'm glad there's finally been a change and I like it in the picture above but in Ubuntu with the Overglossed skin the Opera icon near my clock has a rough white border. See here... http://www.hostmyjpg.com/i/325001176_Opera.png

Same thing i'm seeing, apparently the new icon does not go well with dark backgrounds. Bit of an oversight that.

this is marvelous..

GroovyMicky Tuesday, August 25, 2009 1:05:37 PM

It's a beauty. heart up

WildEnte Tuesday, August 25, 2009 1:25:56 PM

a little too bright at the top for my taste but pretty nice overall. Good work!

Definitely a comfortable looking toilet seat!

Opera logo should be more like this :
http://cid-201f3835d49587fe.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Public/Temp/Opera%202b.png

Current Opera logo is good, but it doesn't "make the difference"...

Ottoottouk Tuesday, August 25, 2009 5:00:12 PM

Tasty!

sharomyga Tuesday, August 25, 2009 6:25:21 PM

good looking icon, finally ))

marcode Tuesday, August 25, 2009 7:38:54 PM

nice that the icon has been refreshed...

shame you couldnt have concentrated that effort on the now fucking horribly dated, bloated and hideous opera browser UI.

unless this is refreshed to bring it into line with modern browser look and feel, no one will give a flying fuck about the v10 RC release as per usual.

least you'll have a nice icon tho.

Please, I'd grateful if you do read/favorite my article about how FAST is OPERA... SPEED IS NOT JUST HORSEPOWER! http://my.opera.com/mnovaes/blog/speed-is-not-just-horsepower

A great step ahead by Opera to choose a new logo smile
but the old logo was much better.. atleast it stood out as an unique icon. The new icon is so plain! sad

these icons were SO much better!!

all credits to the makers

All these icons (links posted above) are so perfect.. rich colourful

Hope Opera will design a new icon or adopt one from these

GroovyMicky Thursday, August 27, 2009 8:21:36 AM

@geeneeyes: are you kidding? Your links show some totally amateur done-in-a-minute pics. Anyone that knows something about design can tell you that new icon is pro looking opposite to your links.

New icon is hot, "sexy" and little too intense on colors which is clearly intentional "look at me"... (much needed for Opera IMHO).

Give it some time, test it in different environments, sizes, backgrounds...

I'm not saying it is the best possible icon, but it's surely among top 5 O's i've seen around.

Wow, it's been 5 years...

Espen André ØverdahlEspenAO Friday, August 28, 2009 10:10:30 AM

I've followed the design process (as I shared offices with the designers) and believe me, they've tested the icon thoroughly on multiple OS, backgrounds and yes, even people.

The diffenerence between Opera’s and your icon is the difference between sexy and pornographic. cool

I believe you, nevertheless, under some circumstances its borders get messed up here, the same has been reported by another in this thread.

@geeneeyes: I think not. IMO, the best icon they've made is actualy the one being used for the wingogi builds. I cannot understand wy they did not simply add that to the normal version. It is simple and elegant.

Haavardhaavard Monday, August 31, 2009 2:58:12 PM

Problems with the border are unrelated to the design of the icon.

And no matter what the icon looks like, someone is going to complain.

Ok, what are they related to then? Is there a solution?

Well, yeah, that's a given.

GroovyMicky Tuesday, September 1, 2009 7:43:43 PM

Haavardhaavard Wednesday, September 2, 2009 1:54:26 PM

The icon was obviously not designed to have a pixelated white border, so if it has one, it's a bug.
