Moving on

Several of you, my opera friends, commented that she looked a kind of strict
The important thing for me lately has been to try and create some kind of enviroment for her. I´ve taken up Allans idea to add more doors and windows. Some kind of house is growing up around her now.
Here I can use my education as a building tecnician.
Yvonne is standing in the doorway in her home..that much I know now. My only reference was the main front door. I drew helping lines from that door, in all directions so the surrounding doors and windows would corrrespond to the main front door. After some time the house façade reminded me of a row of houses from the harbour and I decided that Yvonne and her 9 year old daughter are living in a place just like that. Yvonne has been living as a single mom before, but her status now I´ll keep open for the time being…

She looks a little sad and a little stoic.... Very melodramatic.

It´s very new to me to put so many words into a painting..long before it is finished

This is going to be very interesting. We really do aproach a painting differently. All artists are alike in some ways but, once we hit the canvas, so very different.
Right now, Yvonne seems rather mysterious and sad in a way. Yet, she is looking directly at you with her arms crossed which makes me think she is proud, strong and accepting of her life.

It´s interesting for me too Pam. I normally don´t aproach a painting this way. It´s very new to me. But it has been a good way to make me go!
Yvonne is a strong woman..no doubt. I want her to be. I´m in a very interesting phase right now, creating a house around her.
I´m about to make a post about it

Over the years, I changed my approach several times. I've now settled into a way that I like. But I agree, changing the approach makes you think in a different way. The one thing I almost always do now is completely cover the white canvas, but picking a different color each time...whatever color I want to show through a bit. I used to always use Venetian Red or Red Oxide but now change the starting color because it forces me to use other colors I might not normally use.

It´s so great to hear the way you paint. A lot of colours to begin with scares me a bit. I might end up colourfull but I always start very transparent and careful
Painting like this is completely new to me.
Before I just went to my "creative room" in my mind. Being in there you just have to wait until something comes up! It´s like the religious room inside..when I need to pray, I just enter, without any questions.
Now I try to create outside the creative room...excided to see how it turnes out
